Rutledge for US Senate Press Release Feb 15 Drowning In Debt

FOREST HILL, Maryland

Republican U.S. Senate Candidate Jim Rutledge responded this weekend to the Senate Budget Committee hearing concerning the Federal Budget and Deficits. Rutledge stated, “The clock is ticking regarding the financial future of the American People and unfortunately Washington can’t tell time.” The Nation is drowning in debt while professional politicians like Barbara Mikulski do nothing to reduce the deficit.

Financial experts presented a unified message to the Senate Budget Committee agreeing that the National debt takes capital out of the economy and threatens our economic recovery. Jim Rutledge believes that the reckless spending in Washington pursued by Barack Obama and Barbara Mikulski will continue to jeopardize the future of the American People. The Congressional Budget Office has stated that if the current laws and policies remain unchanged, the Federal Budget would show a deficit of 1.3 trillion dollars for Fiscal Year 2010. The total public debt in the United States is presently estimated at over 12 trillion dollars.

Jim Rutledge understands that some of the solutions to rebuilding the economy may be complicated in the long term but there are also short term solutions that should be implemented immediately. Congress can and should halt the billions of taxpayers’ dollars being poured into entitlement programs and wasteful government earmarks. These programs are picking the pockets of the American People and stealing the future of our Nation.

Jim Rutledge is committed to supporting the entitlements guaranteed by the Constitution- the entitlements of freedom. The Rutledge for Senate Campaign is about providing the Citizens of Maryland the opportunity to have a U.S. Senator who will fight to restore the true entitlements of the Constitution.

Barbara Mikulski has proven that she is part of the problem and not part of the solution. The Obama-Mikulski Budget does not make cents in this period of economic hardship. Maryland can not afford the policies of Barack Obama and Barbara Mikulski.

Hooray for Jim Rutledge. He is Maryland's Scott Brown. Barbara Mikulski has been in Washington long enough. We need citizen-legislators, not career politicians.
