Prosecution Declined In Leasure Elementary School Incident

Location of Incident: Leasure Elementary School, Church Road, Newark, Delaware, New Castle County

Date and Time of Occurrence: Wednesday, April 1st, 2009

Resume: Yesterday, April 2nd, the Delaware State Police received notice from Leasure Elementary regarding an incident which 0ccurred the day before. In this case, it was alleged that an 11-year-old girl had brought a cake and cup cakes to school as a part of her campaign for an election she was participating in. The student’s parents also sent a knife in with her to cut the cake. The knife was subsequently secured by the school staff and the police were notified per state requirements.

This incident was reviewed by Delaware State Police detectives and also with the Attorney General’s Office. Prosecution was declined.

There will be no further action taken by the State Police in this incident.

I think it may be time to hit some range balls without getting into the exercise of applying the best word to define this failed professional application of law, discretion, taxpayer money and, downright common sense!!

Wow. As long as the office had the knife while knife was not in use, and student was observed cutting the cake, than i don't know what the problem is.

Yael. You know as well as I do that while they were shaking down the "Cup-Cake Killer Princess" the REAL troublemakers were hiding their guns... ;)

I had something similar happen last year. My Daughter's French class was preparing a French dinner and each child was supposed to take something, my daughter took in a loaf of French bread, my husband gave her a knife to take in to cut it, a couple of hours into the school day the French teacher called me in a panic asking me to meet her in the school parking lot so she could hand it over w/out my daughter or myself getting into trouble.
