12th Annual James M. Bennett High "Battle of the Bands" Friday, April 3, 7 p.m.

The 12th Annual James M. Bennett High School “Battle of the Bands” will be held on Friday, April 3rd at 7pm in the Bennett Auditorium in Salisbury. It is open to any ‘garage band’ that has at least one member of the band presently attending James M. Bennett High School. Cash prizes of $150, $125 and $100 will be awarded for the top three bands, as well as a $25 prize for the top performer in each specialty: Lead Guitar, Bass Guitar, Drums, Vocals and Auxiliary.

Each band has 10 minutes to perform on stage. These songs can be cover songs from other bands and/or original music. To qualify to perform, each band had to submit an audition tape with the songs they would perform and lyric sheets.

A panel of judges was selected by members of the JMB Band. Criteria for judging will include ensemble balance, timing, interpretation of genre, overall difficulty, format and showmanship. Winners will be announced at the end of the show. In past years, there have been 12 to 17 bands that have participated in this event.

This event is a fund-raiser for the James M. Bennett High School Band and Color Guard. This fund-raiser is run by the members of the JMB Band, from the planning and the hiring of the judges, to the stage set-up and sound check, and finally, the actual running of the show. Advertising, programs and concessions are also done by JMB Band members. The proceeds from “Battle of the Bands” are used to help purchase the field show for next year.

Tickets are $8, and are available to the public at the door. Call 410-677-5141 for information.

Ladies & Gentlemen, please forgive me for this Post getting to all of you on such late notice. It seems that the woman in charge of posting these things for the Board of Education has a Husband that works for the Daily Times. She chooses to post them VERY late soas no other Media Source can provide the information to YOU without the Daily Times having at least a days notice.

While we make every effort to provide the information as timely as possible, Mrs. Saylor continues to play games in which we believe is a total conflict of interest. This information didn't get posted until this afternoon, I know, I checked on a regular basis today.

If you have a complaint about seeing such information, (as this actually happens fairly often) please contact the Board of Education and make your voice be heard. No one can tell me the BOE didn't know this event was going to happen until the DAY OF the event. It's wrong and they're out of line.

Sincerely,

Joe Albero
