Incident: Handgun Arrest
Date of Incident: 28 February 2009
Location: S. Division Street at Bateman Street, Salisbury, MD
Suspect: Joseph T. Walker, 23, Salisbury, MD

Narrative: On 28 Feb 2009 at 11:07 PM, a deputy stopped a vehicle operated by Joseph Walker for erratic driving. Upon making contact with Walker, the deputy began to suspect that he was operating the motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. After field sobriety testing, the deputy deemed that Walker was under the influence and subsequently placed him under arrest. Upon searching the vehicle, the deputy located a loaded .38 handgun behind the driver’s seat.

Walker was transported to the Central Booking Unit where he was processed and taken in front of the District Court Commissioner. After an initial appearance, Walker was detained by the Commissioner in the Detention Center in lieu of $10,000.00 bond.

Incident: Possession of Marijuana
Date of Incident: 1 March 2009
Location: 800 block of S. Schumaker Drive, Salisbury, MD
Suspect:

3. male juvenile, 16 YOA, Salisbury, MD

Narrative: On 1 March 2009 at 9:03 PM, a deputy from the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an occupied suspicious vehicle in the 800 block of S. Schumaker Drive in Salisbury. The deputy responded to the area and located the vehicle. Upon making contact with the occupants, the deputy detected the odor of burnt marijuana emanating from within the vehicle. Upon searching the vehicle, the deputy managed to locate remnants of the marijuana that the trio had possessed.

All three juveniles were arrested and transported to the Sheriff’s Office where they were released to a parent pending action by the Department of Juvenile Services.

Incident: Fugitive Arrest
Date of Incident: 28 February 2009
Location: 700 block of Dennis Street, Salisbury, MD
Suspect: Iberson Marcelus, 20, Salisbury, MD

Narrative: On 28 Feb 2009 at 4:39 PM, deputies went to a residence in the 700 block of Dennis Street in an attempt to locate Iberson Marcelus, the subject of an active arrest warrant that charged him with 1st Degree Burglary and Felony Theft. Upon arrival to the residence, the deputies kept the residence under surveillance until it became apparent that the residence was occupied. Upon knocking on the door, the deputies were met by two individuals who claimed that Marcelus was not inside. Because of their mannerisms and evasiveness, the deputies believed that Marcelus was in fact inside the residence, hiding from the deputies. Upon looking around inside, the deputies discovered a bedroom door that was locked from the inside. The deputies attempted to open the door but it was being held closed by someone on the other side. It soon became apparent that their fugitive was inside bracing the door. The deputies managed to make contact with Marcelus and took him into custody.

Marcelus was transported to the Central Booking Unit where he was processed and taken before the District Court Commissioner. After an initial appearance, Marcelus was detained by the Commissioner on $35,000.00 bond for the arrest warrant and $5,000.00 bond for the Resisting Arrest and Hindering charges.
