TELL LEGISLATORS TO PHASE-OUT ENVIRONMENTAL SURCHARGE

Folks, I am pleased to inform you that I have stirred-up considerable consternation this legislative session among our elected representatives. The light that I have shined on some of their proposed legislation will help to hold them accountable to the electorate.

Now here is one more piece of legislation that warrants your looking at. HB-1407 -Environmental Trust Fund - Environmental Surcharge - Sunset Extension - is a House Bill that is being sponsored to extend the environmental surcharge on each and every one of your electric bills. The current Environmental Surcharge is set to expire next year and this bill would extend that date out until 2015.

Now most of you know that I'm not against protecting our environment, quite the contrary, I'm in a business that promotes green technology.

But what I'm against is using the present collection of Environmental surcharge monies to SUBSIDIZE THE COAL INDUSTRY IN WESTERN MARYLAND. We here on the eastern shore derive no financial benefit from our contributions and thus our money, present being collected, is being funneled out of our jurisdiction.

Contact your legislators now and let them know how you feel. Don't allow the extension of the Environmental surcharge to be extended, unless, some of it is being returned back to our jurisdictions here on the eastern shore.
