This is good news for me! I don't have to rush to vote tomorrow. I will take my time and I hope other people will not be discouraged by the weather to exert their voice and vote for the right person.

Students and teachers do not have to report but the Central Office and School Offices are open 1 hour late.

YAY!

Do twelve-month employees report? On WBOC and WMDT closings Caroline, Dorchester and Cape Henlopen schools are listed as closed, followed by what the twelve-month employees are doing either coming late or not at all. What about Wicomico?

I would like yo personally thank the ELKS for not enforcing their "no Trespassing" policy today. The joy and fun I experienced there today in the late afternoon was fabulous. I must admit, though, there was a lot of plastic coasters which were broken and left behind, as well as other litter. Maybe this is the reason for the new signs.
I would like to ask all the patrons of this marvelous hill to respect it tomorrow by throwing the discarded sleds and coasters and other plastics in the back of their pickups so the Elks guys don't have to do the cleanup. I asked some of the kids there to grab some of the stuff and bring it up the hill to me, and they were GLAD to do it!
let's all do favors for our benevolent brothers!

Is it just me or do they just close schools alot easier now? I'm only 41 but I remember waiting in deep snow to go to North Salisbury when I was a kid. The kind of snow that you had to dig out your mailbox so the mailman could even drive up to it. But we still went. They didnt mind if it was cold or in the summer time if the air conditioner stopped, we still went . No wonder the kids are so spoiled. And according to my grandparents we had it easy.

Where else but here do schools close for two days because of a 3" snow? I'm told that Dr. Frederickson, superintendent, did not understand this, as he comes from Minnesota (I believe); neither do I.

12 month employees have to report tomorrow. They can go in 1 hour late. This was detailed in a phone call from the Dr. Fredericksen this evening on the Parent Link calling system.

I think it is great to make the decision early enough that people can take care of daycare issues.

Michigan is equipped to clear the snow. MD isn't. Our back roads are dangerous right now.

Reconciled1,

One word, "Lawsuit."

It is the same with fog delays. Nowhere else in the country has fog delays except the Eastern Shore. Talbot County is still trying to settle the lawsuits from the tractor trailer/school bus accident in the fog.

WCBOE, thanks for calling school tonight instead of 6am tomorrow.

I agree that letting parents know early is great. The part about school offices and the Central Office should be on TV, not just on the Parent Link. Glad you answered 7:09s question, but not everyone has a kid in the school system.

Since Joe has a grandchild in the Wicomico system, maybe he will post school closings and central office closings. Guess the Bd. will announce school closings on TV but not what the school and Bd. offices are doing. It would take 2 seconds to add that info. to their calls to the TV stations, but for some reason they won't. Makes no sense that if you don't have a child in their system you have to call a hotline or visit their website to find out when and if the school and Bd. offices are open. Thanks Joe for helping the taxpayers.

This might just have to be the new place to post your closing blog for day cares, business and others.. I called WBOC this AM to ask them to post our program was opening late today but they would only post private and public schools this am. No day cares, no businesses, not even on the website. After further questioning -since everything was posted yesterday - they told me that at 6pm last night the voices who may, decided this. Most people know to watch the news for this information & sometimes things could get carried away but closing are newsworthy arent they? I think I'm more irritated that they changed it last night after it was listed yesterday.
Just a note, if your interested, 47 took my call but I have not seen my listing yet, yesterday it did not show up so I'm hoping it does today.

Anonymous 8:42. Considering the difference in cost of living index from Michigan to MD there is no way that MD shouldnt be more prepared. IMHO anything over the bridge is probably cleared in a timely fashion. The shore has never been good for getting things done quickly and this is yet another gleaming fault. Public safety should be priority #1. The redneck attitude, "It'll be alRIGHT" seems to work around here quite well. Salisbury wont even admit the crime problem so I guess you cant expect something as simple as snow removal to be executed well either.
