WHY WOULD ANYONE VOTE FOR MUIR BODA (OR COMEGYS AND SHIELDS)?

Mr. Boda has not espoused any significant position or stated any real criticism of his opponent for the District 2 seat, Debbie Campbell. At a recent candidate forum he pointedly suggested that Ms. Campbell has voted "no" too often. But he did not explain why in any specific instance she should have voted in the affirmative instead. Apparently, Mr. Boda believes that City Council members should be "yes" persons who will rubber stamp whatever the mayor wants – in other words, "bobble heads," like Comegys and Shields have been during their terms on the Council.

If Mr. Boda is going to criticize Ms. Campbell’s voting record he should present the pertinent details in each instance. For example, consider her "no" vote on the initial rezoning of the Salisbury Mall site at the January 23, 2006, meeting of the Council (Ordinances 1965 and 1966). The minutes show that local residents who opposed the "PDD" zoning presented extensive material, including past amendments of the zoning code, to support their position that the proposed zoning classification was unlawful. The Tilghman administration and its supporters on the Council at that time – Comegys, Dunn, Cathcart and Shields – refused to consider that record or the facts. The vote was 4 to 1, and the following day the Daily Times offered this blather by Comegys: "I feel we’ll all be looking back and say, ‘I’m glad that we’re doing this.’ "

Well, let’s have that look back.

Citizens who opposed the rezoning appealed it, as they had threatened to do, and in September, 2006, the Wicomico County Circuit Court struck the rezoning down as unlawful. Thus, the "yes" vote (by Comegys and Shields among others) caused:
1. Legal fees to be paid to the City Attorney – estimated at $25,000 to $50,000 for an unsuccessful effort to defend the rezoning in Court – in addition to the fees charged by Paul Wilber earlier to opine that it would be upheld in Court.
2. Delay to occur in the redevelopment of the site – altogether the delay was probably at least 18 months due to the illegal PDD rezoning, which was reviewed by the "Planning Commission" before it was enacted by the City Council.
But, if Mr. Comegys and Ms. Shields had voted "no" with Ms. Campbell, the City would have saved those wasted legal fees, and by promptly revising the rezoning ordinances, as later occurred after the debacle in the Circuit Court, the City would be much better off today.

Mr. Boda: if you are going to criticize Ms. Campbell for voting "no" in this (or any other) instance, please tell us why she should have voted “yes.” Simply stated: put up or shut up, pal!

"Spot on" post!

Boda claims to offer something different.

All he offers is a return to 4-to-1 rubber stamp votes.

Shields, another rubber stamp.

Comegys, promises to behave better, act wiser, and spend more frugally than the past 6 years?

Yeah, right.

Wilber charged for his faulty opinion on the PDD, for defending his faulty opinion on the PDD in court, and for rewriting the PDD to suit the project after it was deemed illegal. It might be guessed that the whole thing cost us about $120,000 in legal fees. That would be $120,000 that Comegys, Shields, Dunn and Cathcart owe us for their stupidity and arrogance.
Of course, we're "this close" to ever seeing that money be returned to us.

In a way I feel sorry for Boda. He's so very far out of his league.

If Boda really wanted to run for Debbie's seat he would have done his homework instead of being thrown out there unaware of Debbie's record. I am "this close" * * to feeling sorry for him, but not close enough.

If Ms. Campbell had not run and defeated Michael Day four years ago, imagine how much deeper in the hole the City of Salisbury would be? Thanks Debbie -- you've got my vote.

$120,000 in taxpayer money? Not all that far from 1/8 of a million bucks. Just think what the city could have done for "we the people" with that money - (no Bubba, I ain't talking about donating it to your campaign!)

We're getting to the home stretch now, folks! If you support Debbie, PLEASE take every opportunity possible to show it. We can all do something...whether it's donating $5 to her campaign, volunteering to knock on doors, drive voters to the polls on election day, stuff envelopes, put a sign up on your property, write a letter to the DT editor, or even just wear a campaign button in public.

If there is one thing Salisbury does NOT need, it's Muir Boda in that 2nd District seat. The city has suffered enough under Barrie's regime, and the likes of Mike Dunn and the others - to say nothing of the the current council majority and bozos like Bubba and Shanie.

Debbie has done a lot for us these last four years. Let's stand behind her now.

And let's show the Bubbas, Bodas, and Barries of the city - that we the people are mad as $!@# and ain't gonna stand for the "status quo" they've given - and want to give - us. Let's take Salisbury back!

Boda is the classic wolf in sheep's clothing, what with his spiel about the church, mission, etc. The focus should be the problems of Salisbury, not those of Peru or Timbucktoo. His absurd attack on Debbie Campbell's voting record is disgraceful.

Mr. Boad should be stopped in his tracks this time, for once and for all -- and not enouraged to run again in 2 years (even against Bubba).

We can never forget Comegys, Barrie, Dunn, Cathcart and Shanie practically drooling over their votes to rezone--Ms. Campbell was the ONLY one who saw the error from the start. She is so very intelligent. Comegys lacks the intellect and curious mind to be Mayor. Also, didn't he call the citizens CAVE people--real good, Gary!

I'm still waiting patiently for Mr. Boda to tell us just WHICH ones of Debbie's 120 "no" votes he would've voted "yes" on - and exactly why.

Come on, Boda! It's easy to go on the attack, but it's a bit tougher to back up your rhetoric with FACTS - ISN'T it?

The majority of 2nd District voters aren't quite as gullible as Boda believes them to be. He's not even in office and already he's selling the voters short! That's why Debbie is gonna kick his butt until his nose bleeds at the polls. You watch!

Ummmmm....Mr. Boda? I'm still waiting. But then, I'm still waiting for Japan to apologize for Pearl Harbor. I'm more likely to hear that than I am an intelligent response from you on this matter.

I have never been impressed with Walmart's "management material." They are just Super Giant and Food Lion rejects. I've seen cashiers at Walmart with more personality than Sir Yoda Boda.

Yeah, this guy's trying to put WalMart management material up against one of the most accomplished 100 women in the STATE. BWAHAHAHAHAH....good luck, Boda baby. Trust me, you're gonna NEED it come election day.

You play dirty - just like your heroes Barrie and Bubba - but you know what, son? Unfortunately for you, most of the people ain't quite as dumb as you think they are. And many like me have loooonggg memories when it comes to the last 4 years. Debbie's been kicking butt and taking names on behalf of the taxpayers, and it's gonna take a lot more than your joke candidacy to stop her.

Hold onto your hiney, there, Muir 'cause in a few more weeks, you're gonna get run over by the Debbie Campbell express. When you do, look up at the engineer's window of the locomotive. Debbie will be the one waving out the window to you as she goes on down the tracks.
