State Police Investigating Threatening Text Messages in Two Local School Districts

Seaford – The Delaware State Police are currently investigating an alarming text message that a Seaford School District student received this morning at approximately 7:00 am indicating that a student would be shot at either the Seaford High School or Seaford Middle School today between the hours of 8:00 am and 12:00 pm.

The student notified his parents who reported it to police. Because of this message, DSP and Seaford School District officials requested additional police presence at the schools as a precautionary measure while police investigated. It should be known that the message was the sent to many other students who began forwarding it throughout the student population..

Currently, the DSP and Seaford Police Department have eight officers located at the two schools and district officials have placed the schools on Level 1 lockdown. This minimizes students and visitors from entering or leaving the building.

As this investigation was underway, another text message was received by a student in the Woodbridge School District indicating a similar occurrence happening at the High School. District Officials and DSP have placed three troopers at that school while the investigation is underway.

Questions concerning the Seaford School District can be directed to Ms. Bonnie Johnson at 302.629.4587 ext. 276. Questions concerning the Woodbridge School District can be directed to officials at 302.337.8289.

Currently there is no suspect information. When updated information is available it will be released. Anyone who has any information on this crime is urged to contact investigators at Troop 5 at 302.337.1090 or Crime Stoppers at 1.800.TIP.3333.

Whoa! The Daily Times actually posted this on their website already! They probably got it off of SBYNEWS, so thank you Joe for updating our local paper!

I hope everything works out well in these schools involved. It's a shame that some sick individual would do something like this or even joke about something like this!

WBOC has updated this story on their noon broadcast.

I hope they catch the person(s) responsible for this mess.
Now we have state and local police agencies all tied up at the schools while the real crime is probably able to be done without notice.

I think whoever it is also should have to repay the state and local governments for all the manpower for these situations.

While I think someone pranked it based on the text message about Walmart the other day, I sure do hope I'm right in this case and nothing bad happens.

I know there's a saying "you can't be too cautious" but I feel yes you can.

This whole country has been brought to our knees with scare tactics from our government and now some people have figured out another way of scaring us all.

Rediculous!

Sounds awful familiar to the scare for the supposed WalMart shootings the other night...while I hope this too was a hoax, and agree that they should be taking the precautions they have- why is it not assumed that this too is a hoax while the 'WalMart' scare was supposed to have been assumed across the board to be a hoax from the start? Having three daughters, two of which attend these schools- I am just as concerned about them being at school today as I was about sending them to WalMart the other night to pick up a few things...we didn't send them to walmart that evening, but they were already at school when we heard about this.

I am curious as to wheather or not there has actually ever been a bomb found when there was a bomb threat anywhere. If someone really wanted to set off a bomb wouldn't calling the building and giving everyone a heads up kinda of mess up their little sic plan?

I can't believe you all would even think that they shouldn't take this seriously. How would you feel if the school got a bomb threat and did nothing and then the school blew up and hundreds of students and teachers were killed. I bet you would be the first in line to sue the school board. They have to take these things seriously.
