Just to let you know I live in the London Avenue area and near one of the candidates. I put a Jim Ireton sign in my yard and I saw a light blue or gray foriegn car stop by and steal my sign and then had the audacity to replace it with a Comegys sign. The car was a nice looking BMW or Volvo and it had the Chesapeake Bay tags. I could only read the first three numbers as it sped away and I think it started with 803? I then took the Comegys sign and threw it away and replaced it with an Ireton sign. I woke up this morning and my Ireton sign is gone again. To the thief who keeps stealing my signs will you please return them. This has really turned into a nasty election and it is apparent that several people are desparate and running scared.
I want my city back!
Editors Note: Unfortunately this is an "anonymous" comment. Sadly, too many people are in fear of using their name because of possible retaliation. We're hearing and seeing this all too often. The Mayor wants to blame Salisbury News for people being afraid to speak up at Council Meeting and or volunteering to different Boards. This is just not true. I know people who are more than qualified for certain Boards, sent in their intent letter and never heard back from the Mayor.
It IS time to take back your City. A vote for Gary Comegys is simply a vote for more of the same. Make sure you encourage every person you can to get out there and vote Folks. Jim Ireton stated yesterday, on April 8, 2009, this kind of intimidation will end! I believe him.

It definitely wasn't a station wagon. It was a nice looking sporty car that looked fairly new.
That's funny....the Mayor's license plate is a Chesapeake Bay tag. The Mayor's license plate reads 80336. Oh, and wait, the Mayor's car is a light blue Volvo...
If your story is indeed true then you have found your culprit. Even worse, if it is true then that shows what kind of leaders we have in this City. I certainly hope that it really hasn't come to this...
I tell you what, I will be looking to see if Mr or Mrs Comegys drives a car like that, or T.J Maloney, Donnie Williams, Richard Insley, or Gamee Elliot. How childish can you get--don't they realize that just makes people want to voet against them even more?

They probably have your house confused with the rental houses that have all the Comegy's signs. That is where I see most of his signs.
I'm 4:20 and yes! I like it much better also! Was just hoping it was not a fluke or a one time thing!

Comegys sister has a Jim Ireton sign in her front yard. I thought this was very funny. I hear there is no love lost between the two sisters.
Her sister may loan the person whose sign was stolen her sign for a while.
I had the police called on me to issue me a ticket for somethinging that has been in my side yard for the last 4 years, when I call the police to inquire as to why after 4 years is there an issue, I was told that someone in the area is driving around all the city neighborhoods reporting city violations to the SPD, they said I can take it to court and fight it, you best believe I'm going to......oh and did I forget to mention that I have an Ireton sign in my front yard.
Someone needs to set up a hidden camera and catch the hoodlums who are doing this.
Or take a big mean dog, and chain `em up to one of those Ireton signs. Then wait for Rover to begin yapping, and catch the thieves in the act!

I would say that you should report the theft of your signs to the police but if it does turn out to be the mayor then nothing would probably be done.
It more than likely was the Mare. She was out at the Fountains for an event and she was drunk on her ARSE!!! She was the talk of the whole event. She appeared to be a major lush. I bet she stole it last night on her way home.
How disturbing that the person with the Ireton sign has been harassed by the city for an old existing "violation". Not surprising, but certainly disturbing. I hope that, upon election of a new and untainted mayor, the reign of terror will be over, and I, among many, will no longer be afraid to sign my name to my posts.

I noticed it had changed also. I happen to like it the other way. You dont have to scroll as much. I wish there was a way to make this box larger. As far as having to go back and forth... there was a section at the top to let you read the story and see the comments.

The mayor has two Volvos, a convertible and a stationwagen.
I think it was Barrie Parsons Tilghman who took the signs out of her neighbors yard. She is extremely vindictive and she will stop at nothing to get her way. Think about it, she has been abusing her power and getting away with it for over 12 years now so what would make you think she wouldn't steal something as simple as a yard sign. She got a ticket once for speeding on North Division Street by a city police officer and the chief tore up the ticket.
Yes the good mayor was very intoxicated at the fountains. No one could understand a word she was saying or sluring. I guess she was celebrating the end of her term like the rest of us. Even gave the door man a big lip lock on the way out. Poor man.

The Jim Ireton signs on MiddleNeck Drive over by the old Lowe's have been tore out and are laying on the ground; but the Caldwell signs are still up...shouldn't they be taken down by now?
Jim needs to get over there and put his signs back up.

We live in the neighborhood as well and Comegys asked us if we could put his sign in our yard and we were afraid to say know. We know how stupid he is and how intimidating the mayor is. Friends of ours have been harrassed by the police and the code enforcement officer because the mayor doesn't like them. We feel like cowards for not saying no, but we will be voting for Jim Ireton. Some of our neighbors have Comegys signs in their yards and Comegys just put them there without permission. He just assumed since they were neigbors that he had their support. He has never been so wrong. Have you noticed the many signs but no one has publicly endorsed Comegys with a letter to the editor or a monetary contribution! He has also paid some of the neighbors $20 to rent a small piece of their yard for sign placement.
Anon753, you are a wus. Get some nads and go out an pull that Comegys sign up, and call Jim for a new sign. If nothing else, pull the sign and do nothing, not even vote. You are doing this for your children, and you should not abandon them here, but if you feel you must....
