'nuff said.
the standing with muslims comment is taken out of context... this was a line preceeded by a right to practice their religion line. in other words, they (muslims) have a right to be muslims here in this country.
Personally, I do not intend to vote for Obama, but this is not the reason. There are many, however.
So what is the point to this old news? I imagine that if I pulled lines from any of the other candidates "books", I could find something that would be just as interesting.
anon 8:43...
Please pull them. I find it hard to imagine that you could find anything as damning as what Obama has written. Even if you take the "Muslim" quote out of the original post, I find it unnerving to say the least that everything else hinges on race. Now that he is running for office the tone has changed. But a tiger seldom changes his stripes. Why would anyone want to take the chance when the futures of our children and grand-children hang in the balance?
1. To Grandad, do you know what it's like to have the identity issues that come from being a mixed race child with an absentee father?
2. If the quotes in this post were taken any farther out of context you would have to credit them to another author.
What happened to the tone of your earlier post about the Obama group at the Green Turtle?
How come he does not talk about this and always changes his stance that suits him at the time? If he is concerned enough about this towriteabout it, then why does he not use his middle name? Is he trying to be secretive and have that hidden agenda while being deceitful in his message? Is this the change Obama is talking about?
Yes, these are the thoughts of biracial children growing up, the struggles they go through trying to find a "place" in a judgmental society, especially in the time Obama grew up and came to adulthood. Considered "BLACK" by whites and "NOT BLACK ENOUGH" by blacks. Even today, even here, you'll here the whispers, and few of you on this blog will have any comprehension of what it is like to deal with that.
I applaud the man for writing about what it takes to get through that struggle and arrive at place of acceptance and respect for all.

He sure doesn't have trouble now identifying with the black race. Do you ever hear him talking about being half white? No because he can use the race issue to his advantage. All you hear is that he will be the first black POTUS not that he will be the first multi-racial POTUS.
wow... you're gonna hate it when he is the next Prez. lol
10:37, how do you suppose society has viewed Obama? half white? give me a break. of course he doesn't have trouble identifying with the black race, because that's how he's viewed by society at large.
Pure bullshit. Why not break out the sheets and burn a cross?
12:34 - the reason they have not had the rally yet is because Limbaugh/O'Reilly/Hannity et all have not told them too yet. You are implying that they have original thoughts that do not firt come approved from the noise machine.
Typical Delmarva...
grand dad,
I'm a Republican but quoting Obama's book in this way doesn't provide enough context for a real discussion, and certainly if anything is OLD NEWS.
Lets strive to point out flaws in his tax policy, his definition of a 'wealthy american', his intent to rapidly remove troops from Iraq, or his voting record.
I read this book last year and it is not a political presentation. It does however give insight into his thoughts and challenges growing up as a black man, at least outwardly looking, and moreover his struggle with reconciling his black and white roots.
In any case, pulling these quotes out now is just an attempt to feed racism and unfounded fears. Lets instead focus on how to make the case for the Replican agenda.
If Barrak X really wrote the following, we do not need context!
"From Dreams of My Father:'I never emulate white men and brown men whose fates didn't speak to my own. It was into my father's image, the black man, son of Africa , that I'd packed all the attributes I sought in myself , the attributes of Martin and Malcolm, DuBois and Mandela.'
And FINALLY the Most Damning one of ALL of them!!!
From Audacity of Hope:'I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction."
This makes the Rev."God damn America," Wright seem like a moderate, good guy compared to Obama! Are any of you really going to vote for Adolph Obama?
With all due respect to everyone, especially my friend, FF:
Context be damned! It doesn't matter if every other sentence in those books said work hard and give to charity. If these two quotes are accurate, we aren't damning this piece of shit by association with "God damn America," Wright! Obama, by his own words, is an enemy of white and brown Americans. I always had a gut feeling that his true alliance was with the radical Muslim dogs that are the enemies of the United States.
This is America! You are free to vote for communists, fascists, anyone you choose. Obama, if he actually said any of those things, would appear to be more dangerous to America and Christianity than anything we've ever encountered. So, I repeat, and not as rhetoric, anyone voting for someone of any race that said those thing in ANY context, is either a black racist, a muslim or un-American:
Context cannot justify any of those atrocities! What he says now means nothing; he's just pandering and lying for votes. Look at his past associations and his own words..the man is not fit for public office, period!
Now excuse me while I go throw up from just thinking about that piece of Muslim-loving crap.
Oh, yeah, Palin's daughter is pregnant. We can't elect someone if their daughter got pregnant, can we? WHAT A JOKE! McCaine & Palin look like Washington & Jefferson compared to Adolph Barrak X!
Hitler used his gift with words to fool and destroy Germany. Will we allow Barrak X to do the same to us? Hitler's previos words should have warned Germany, but their economy was so bad that they chose to ignore them. Let us not make the SAME mistake. The economy may get worse or better; it always does both, but it even depression would not even be close to as disasterous as electing Obama! Electing Obama X could easily be possibly more catastrophic than Hitlers rise in Germany.
"white and brown men whose fates didn't speak to my own." Barrak X
"I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction." No shit, Barrak H.Obama, X I already knew that!
None of these quotes are bad. he wants to be like King, X,DuBois and Mandela. So what! Maybe we should all aspire to be as gereat as these men. Never afrais of saying things the establishment didn't want them to.
He wants Muslims to be able to practice their religion freely in this country. You mean just like everyone else is guranteed the right to do so. Or maybe the constitution is only for some people.
The statement was taken out of content for pure and simple fear mongering.
You guys talk all the time how dirty the liberals are and yet you spout lies, lies and more lies about the candidates you don't like. Comparing him the Hitler is desperate and shameful.
Let's tell the truth, you hate him because he's a liberal. You hate him because he's biracial. You hate him because he "looks black".
You lie about him because he may win and he damn sure doesn't look like you. And the lies make you look like fools.
Damn fools!
Mr. Littleton,
"With all due respect to everyone, especially my friend, FF:
Context be damned! "
Sir, that's a healthy step in the direction of fascism. Put the comments in context, and they make perfect, defensible sense.
anon 9:08
I agree that it is best to put quotes in context, but I doubt that it's fascist or helps the trains run on time if it is not done.
And I have no problem with the 4 men Obama X admires; I admire them, too. I have a big problem with the fifth, his FATHER!
Can you not combine a man's racist words with his long standing racist associations and finally understand that he is a racist & not fit to be president?
By obama X's own declaration, we, "white and brown men," have no fate that speaks to his! (His thought not mine)!
Since you seem lacking in proper depth of understanding and reasoning ability to combine words and actions to get an accurate view of Obama, I will break this racist bull sh** down for you:)
This is the part that is very clearly racist:
"I never emulate white men and brown men whose fates didn't speak to my own. It was into my father's image, the black man, son of Africa , that I'd packed all the attributes I sought in myself,..."
If a white canditate had ever, EVER, written, "the fates of black & brown men didn't speak to his own fate," he or she would be unelectable as president, period, no context needed, no political redemption possible! DO YOU AGREE WITH THAT?
But as if to verify this very clear, plain talk, Obama X spent 20years in "God damn America", Wright's church. (racist words & racist associations) We who have ears can hear! We who have eyes can see!
Obama X's words combined with his actions evince a very clever, dangerous racist.
I wish Obama X would answer this question for me: What audacity impells you, sir, "the image of my father, the black man, the son of Africa," whose fate doesn't speak to the fates of white and brown men, to ,now, lie, grovel and beg for our white and brown votes?
And since wou write that the fates of white and brown people do not speak to your own fate, WHAT KIND OF STUPID WHITE OR BROWN PERSON WOULD VOTE FOR YOU? Not enough them around, I assure you:)...Some of us can still think and reason!
Oh, and why did you "never emulate white or brown people." The white side of your family was the one who sacrificed for you, you disgusting, execrable ingrate. Your father, "the black man, the son of Africa," deserted you and your mother.....nice choice of genetic preference and role model, there, Mr. X
No lies Obama says or writes now will EVER convince anyone with a working brain that he is not still the person who wrote that racist slime and kept slimey black racist fellowship right up to mid-way through the primaries....Obama is in for a trouncing at the polls in Nov. by PATRIOTIC Americans, period!
And just what is Obama's "fate" as "the image of my father, the black man, the son of Africa,"?
Is it to help his father's religion, Islam, destroy America, Christianity and Israel?
We who have ears can hear!
"Beware of wolves," and Muslims, "in sheeps clothing"!
TAL
I’m sorry; I just don’t understand your thinking; “I agree that it is best to put quotes in context, but I doubt that it's fascist or helps the trains run on time if it is not done.” So you make up lies instead? We are shown supposedly damaging quote from his books. However none of the quotes are earth shaking to say the least. Anon: 8:36 am tells you what Senator Obama is talking about. A person’s right to practice their religion. Yet you still make up something about Senator Obama. You claim he’s a racist. The truth says otherwise. You claim he’s a Muslim or fighting for “the Muslim agenda”. That’s a plain lie. Plus the fact that being a Muslim does not mean you can’t be president.
You admonish Obama with, “… "the fates of black & brown men didn't speak to his own fate," and yet the quote never say that. It is a poor trick. Take out part of a quote to make to say something it didn’t. It is easy to tell what Senator Obama was talking about. He is never going to try to be like someone who didn’t share his core beliefs. Then he gives a list of the men he wants to be like. Hidden agenda? What is the matter with you?
You even change the quote again saying, “… "the fates of black & brown men didn't speak to his own fate," you just made that up and doing that is just plain dishonest. In addition, does not make since to rewrite a direct quote and then claim he said something terrible, when we can look at the quote itself.
Senator Obama ran a pretty good primary race and surprised a lot of people, especially those who assumed someone else would be the front runner. Now the thinking is that “we” got to stop him. Let’s make up lies about him. Yea that should do the trick.
Face it you don’t like Senator Obama. I really understand that. What I don’t get is why you are so scared of him. You are so scared that you have to lie about him and hope that it sticks.
It all speaks of desperation.
anon 4:45
So, you're saying Albero is a liar
and Obama never wrote the quote that he posted?
No white candidate could have written that, reversing the races, and survive politically!
"From Dreams of My Father:'I never emulate white men and brown men whose fates didn't speak to my own. It was into my father's image, the black man, son of Africa , that I'd packed all the attributes I sought in myself , the attributes of Martin and Malcolm, DuBois and Mandela.'
If you don't see this as racist,I just found a beautiful little rock that I'd like to sell you for a hundred million dollars!
No. What I am saying is that your interpretation of it is a lie.
So, you're saying a white candidate could have said that and survived politically! YOU ARE CRAZY!
Get someone to help you cross the street; you don't have enough sense!
Obviously you have no training in really understanding, at a deeper than superficial level, the words bright, evil people like Obama X chooses to use.
When Obama X said he would stand with Muslims if things got ugly here is what he meant: He meant that if there is a war between Christianity and Islam he would stand as the image of his father with Islam!
Of course there is no problem with assuring the civil liberties a ALL Americans, including Muslims. But the correct way for presidential candidate to frame this would be to say that he or she would stand for the civil liberties of ALL. By specifically naming Muslims, Obama was mocking America and assuring our enemies in the Midde East that he is on their side if things get ugly.
TAL
But I did go out and buy a first edition of Dreams From My Father.
From now on, I will be able to give page number an paragraph.
Good for you. However, that will never make you right.
You however, will stay scared at the change that is coming. The lies, the desperation, they won't help.
Good luck with reading and understanding the book. I doubt you would learn something.
OK, 4:58, let's try this one more time, really slowly and carefully. Now pay attention and try to follow!
From Dreams of My Father:'I never emulate white men and brown men whose fates didn't speak to my own. It was into my father's image, the black man, son of Africa , that I'd packed all the attributes I sought in myself , the attributes of Martin and Malcolm, DuBois and Mandela.
So, I'm wrong to conclude that the fate of white and black men does speak to Obama's "fate."? That's exactly what he wrote. He wrote it as how his fate relates to white and brown men. I just showed how his "fate" doesn't speak to us!
Yeah, That's really a stretch!
I encourage everyone to e-mail the Obama quote at the top of this comment to a hundred friends and ask each of those to e-mail it to a hundred different people. What percentage do you think would find it offensive and racist?
That quote, widely distributed, should be plenty to assure Obama X's defeat in November:)
Learn to understand words and writing. You seem to be able to read words, but are illiterate at anything deeper than a childish, superficial level. You probably think Little Red Riding Hood is about a girl, a wolf, a grandmom and a woodsman! Of course, it is on a superficial level for children and the masses. I'll bet FF understands the esoteric meaning of the story.
It's the same with all gifted writers and speakers; their CHOSEN words convey a superficial meaning to the masses and an esoteric meaning to the initated, "those with ears!) Never mind, I have some of the biggest ears and will lead you out of the fog!
The more I read about Obama and his father, the more I'm convinced that Hollywood couldn't come up with a more compelling story and evil figure to rewrite The Omen!
No, you pay attention: The important part of the quote is the whole entire quote. Obama is clearly saying that he would take those attributes of those four men and his father over the attributes of any other white or black man. Clearly. Your attempt at bias is incredibly lacking in any facts.
How did you show how his "fate" doesn't speak to us! Who actually is us?
I do agree with you on one point,
"It's the same with all gifted writers and speakers; their CHOSEN words convey a superficial meaning to the masses and an esoteric meaning to the initated, "those with ears!" You are proof of that. You are still wrong, but keep trying if it will make you happy.
I sense fear and hate in what you are trying to talk about. I get that you don't like Obama, but everytime you call him a muslim without any proof you make yourself seem very small. Everytime you make something up, you seem desperate.
I can send that email 100 people and they would laugh at your desperation.
Thomas Littleton,
If you're going to quote Obama, at least quote ALL of his passage:
"All my life, I had carried a single image of my father, one that I had sometimes rebelled against but had never questioned, one that I had later tried to take as my own. The brilliant scholar, the generous friend, the upstanding leader--my father had been all those things. All those things and more, because except for that one brief visit in Hawaii, he had never been present to foil the image, because I hadn't seen what perhaps most men see at some point in their lives: their father's body shrinking, their father's best hopes dashed, their father's face lined with grief and regret.
"Yes, I'd seen weakness in other men--Gramps and his disappointments, Lolo and his compromise. But these men had become object lessons for me, men I might love but never emulate, white men and brown men whose fates didn't speak to my own. It was into my father's image, the black man, son of Africa, that I'd packed all the attributes I sought in myself, the attributes of Martin and Malcolm, DuBois and Mandela. And if later I saw that the black men I knew--Frank or Ray or Will or Rafiq--fell short of such lofty standards; if I had learned to respect these men for the struggles they went through, recognizing them as my own--my father's voice had nevertheless remained untainted, inspiring, rebuking, granting or withholding approval. You do not work hard enough, Barry. You must help in your people's struggle. Wake up, black man!
"Now, as I sat in the glow of a single light bulb, rocking slightly on a hard-backed chair, that image had suddenly vanished. Replaced by...what? A bitter drunk? An abusive husband? A defeated, lonely bureaucrat? To think that all my life I had been wrestling with nothing more than a ghost!"
This was when he was growing up. He had staked so much on the identity of his father (whom he was out of touch with) and his father's race, and found it to be nothing more than a "ghost". The quote actually PRECEDES the part where he talks about the mistake of people putting too much emphasis on race, and his own personal story of doing the same thing when he was younger.
So, you've quoted him, OUT OF CONTEXT, and claimed that he was saying the EXACT OPPOSITE of what he actually said.
I would suggest that you ACTUALLY do some research before commenting so vociferously... and getting your point SO wrong.

Wicomico County For Obama
Ha! I fell for it hook line a sinker. I knew something was not right about the whole "The Audacity Post"
These are the correct comments, with page number so you can check. I recieved this information from FACTCHECK.ORG that has a well crafted piece on this pack of lies.
From Dreams of My Father : "I found a solace in nursing a pervasive sense of grievance and animosity against my mother's race."
Actual quote from "Dreams from My Father": Nothing like this quote appears in Obama's books.
Misleading e-mail: From Audacity of Hope: "I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction."
Actual quote from "The Audacity of Hope" [pg. 261]: Of course, not all my conversations in immigrant communities follow this easy pattern. In the wake of 9/11, my meetings with Arab and Pakistani Americans, for example, have a more urgent quality, for the stories of detentions and FBI questioning and hard stares from neighbors have shaken their sense of security and belonging. They have been reminded that the history of immigration in this country has a dark underbelly; they need specific assurances that their citizenship really means something, that America has learned the right lessons from the Japanese internments during World War II, and that I will stand with them should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.
Misleading e-mail: From Dreams of My Father: "I never emulate white men and brown men whose fates didn't speak to my own. It was into my father's image, the black man, son of Africa, that I'd packed all the attributes I sought in myself, the attributes of Martin and Malcolm, Dubois and Mandela."
Actual quote from "Dreams from My Father" [pg. 220]: Yes, I'd seen weakness in other men - Gramps and his disappointments, Lolo and his compromise. And if later I saw that the black men I knew - Frank or Ray or Will or Rafiq - fell short of such lofty standards; if I had learned to respect these men for the struggles they went through, recognizing them as my own - my father's voice had nevertheless remained untainted, inspiring, rebuking, granting or withholding approval. You do not work hard enough, Barry. You must help in your people's struggle. Wake up, black man!
Misleading e-mail: From Dreams of My Father: "There was something about him that made me wary, a little too sure of himself, maybe. And white."
Actual quote from "Dreams from My Father" [pgs. 141-142]: Now he was trying to pull urban blacks and suburban whites together around a plan to save manufacturing jobs in metropolitan Chicago. He needed somebody to work with him, he said. Somebody black. ...
He offered to start me off at ten thousand dollars the first year, with a two-thousand-dollar travel allowance to buy a car; the salary would go up if things worked out. After he was gone, I took the long way home, along the East River promenade, and tried to figure out what to make of the man. He was smart, I decided. He seemed committed to his work. Still, there was something about him that made me wary. A little too sure of himself, maybe. And white - he'd said himself that that was a problem.
Misleading e-mail: From Dreams of My Father: "I ceased to advertise my mother's race at the age of 12 or 13, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites."
Actual quote from "Dreams from My Father" [pg. xv]: When people who don't know me well, black or white, discover my background (and it is usually a discovery, for I ceased to advertise my mother's race at the age of twelve or thirteen, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites), I see the split-second adjustments they have to make, the searching of my eyes for some telltale sign. They no longer know who I am. Privately, they guess at my troubled heart, I suppose - the mixed blood, the divided soul, the ghostly image of the tragic mulatto trapped between two worlds. And if I were to explain that no, the tragedy is not mine, or at least not mine alone, it is yours, sons and daughters of Plymouth Rock and Ellis Island, it is yours, children of Africa, it is the tragedy of both my wife's six-year-old cousin and his white first grade classmates, so that you need not guess at what troubles me, it's on the nightly news for all to see, and that if we could acknowledge at least that much then the tragic cycle begins to break down...well, I suspect that I sound incurably naive, wedded to lost hopes, like those Communists who peddle their newspapers on the fringes of various college towns. Or worse, I sound like I'm trying to hide from myself.
Therefore, my statement have been proven. You sir are a liar. You are so scared of the possibility that a person of color may become president of the U.S. that you would slander and demean him. That is rascism at its best!!!!
Come with the issues, come with disagreements. Always come with the TRUTH. Since I now recognize that you can't and won't, I will no longer play your game because I have proof of what you are.
LIAR! RASCIST!
Obama’s words are incredibly stupid, racist and damning. The esoteric message of his words is even more sinister. But let’s forget my interpretation, for I am a but simple minded plebian.
Was Hillary wrong in her interpretation of Obama’s messianic esoteric & exoteric words when she mocked him and what would happen if he were elected? “The heavens will open, celestial choirs will sing….” And she was laughing at him as she spoke and mocked him. I watched and laughed at Obama with her! Liberals chose Obama anyway; mainstream America won't be that stupid!
When McCain wins in November, you don’t need to congratulate me:) It will truly be America’s victory over evil!
TAL
Hillary laughed her way right out of the election. And you are still a lying rascist.
Anon 1:37
I don't think you are a liar or racist, just stooooopid:)
You have chosen, very wisely, not to continue playing this game with me. Your very shallow mental capacity limits you to playing it very poorly. You can't even accept it when a brilliant standard bearer of your party, Hillary Clinton, sees through Obama and mocks him!
If I am a racist, why do I like Steele, Rice and Powell?
Could it be Obama X’s message, not mixed-race that I find evil?
The complete quote you provided just proves Obama even more racist and an enemy of white people, brown people and and ALL patriotic Americans!
I already told you the criteria and ground rules for judging this quote! (You implied that this exchange is my game, so surely I get to set the rules):)
It DOESN"T matter if every other word in this silly little self serving book of Obama's is one of philanthropic rhapsody. The full quote you just provided, COMBINED with the decades long Rev. “GOD DAMN AMERICA,” Wright association, evinces a dangerous racist, and enemy of the United States of America & the ideals set forth in the Declaration of Independece!
You have done well to recognize that you are no match for the truth and those of us with “ears”!
Since you have surrendered, I shall address you no more on this post. Do not despair at my thrashing of you. Cherish it as a you would a diamond, this lesson, from those of us who have "ears". Now go in peace, and seek wisdom and understanding, Grasshopper:)
I would have gladly continued to give you much needed instruction, but your rudeness cannot be rewarded with jewels from the keyboard of THE ONE with "ears", so I shall leave you, as I found you, in the darkness, Grasshopper:)
TAL
This is still racist slime and garbage: "Actual quote from "Dreams from My Father" [pg. 220]: Yes, I'd seen weakness in other men - Gramps and his disappointments, Lolo and his compromise. But these men had become object lessons for me, men I might love but never emulate, white men and brown men whose fates didn't speak to my own. You do not work hard enough, Barry. You must help in your people's struggle. Wake up, black man!"
Mr. Littleton, the fact that you didn't have a single substantive response to any of the rebuttals to your argument is quite damning, sir. Would you care to rebut now that you've read the quotes in context?
No, Grashopper, if you won't even accept that Hillary saw Obama for what he is, there is no hope for you!
The One with ears, cannot reward you with anymore jewels from his keyboard. Now, Grasshopper, go in in peace; seek wisdom and understanding, and be grateful that in November we will have McCain & Palin to "save America & the world" from the abomination of the Obamanation:)TAL
