The CEO of a nationwide spice retail chain has accused people who voted for President-elect Donald Trump of committing “the biggest act of racism in American history since Wallace stood in the schoolhouse doorway 53 years ago.”
Penzeys Spices CEO Bill Penzey is facing backlash for comments he made in an email newsletter to customers last week, the Milwaukee Business Journal reported.
“The open embrace of racism by the Republican Party in this election is now unleashing a wave of ugliness unseen in this country for decades. The American people are taking notice,” he wrote.
Mr. Penzey stood firm by his statement in a Facebook post Thursday but admitted that not all Republicans are racist.
Mr. Penzey suggested that Mr. Trump’s supporters redeem themselves by volunteering this Thanksgiving or making a donation to the American Civil Liberties Union or Southern Poverty Law Center.
Milwaukee County Sheriff and outspoken black conservative David Clarke also weighed in on the controversy, tweeting: “This typical hate-filled white elitist lefty doesn’t live around black people or have stores in black neighborhoods,” the Milwaukee Business Journal reported.

Tell him he can shove his opinion where the sun doesn't shine.
Just cancelled my long-term account. I suggest people call and cancel as well
Say what you want. Trump 2016!!!!
Penzey was lauded by another paper as "putting his principles ahead of profits."
It might be the case that many of his customers will take a similar position, putting their principles ahead of their purchases.
Let's see how well this works out for his profits, and for his corporate credibility.
The race card is always pulled when they have a losing hand. We aren't buying it anymore. Trump won, bunch of babies need to get over it. Seems have our nation are a bunch of pansies!
What an idiot--TRUMP-2020
I guess he didn't get the memo that the race card isn't working anymore.
Sounds like BLM racism to me
Um, he really didn't have any qualification to his claim, he's merely name-calling. Is this what professional journalism has resorted to?
If so, I'll not bother with it.
Tell me your reason. You didn't do that, so, ...
and Trump 2024....2028...2032....ect.....
Ignorance begats Ignorance. Support the ACLU or SPLC. Get a grip my little snowflake; as you are out of your mind...
Never heard of him or his products. He has a right to confirm he's an idiot based on his comments. I'll exercise my right to never buy any of his stuff if I see it for sale.
Sounds like Sheriff Clarke nailed it!
