Medical drone flights could be in the future for Maryland

CALIFORNIA, Md. (ABC7) — A drone flight over the Chesapeake Bay could one day be our lifeline.

“We need to keep pushing the boundaries to go further, go higher, go bigger,” said Matt Scassero, the director of the Unmanned Aircraft Systems Test Site at the University of Maryland.

Scassero showed us his mission from two weeks ago. The drone carried what would be real medication in an emergency. It traveled 28-minutes over the Bay from Calvert County to Dorchester County. A car ride would take about three hours and 45 minutes.

I have never seen the traffic so bad as it was this year coming and going across the bay bridge. Queenstown is a bottleneck as well. Just last weekend we witnessed a tractor trailer on its side with traffic backed up as far as the eye can see. There needs to be something in the event of a medical emergency for certain.

What is that going to cost and who will be paying the bill?

I don't mind civilians, firefighters, farmer or someone in the medical field having or using one of these... But I sure as heck don't want the cops using these... they won't get warrants like they should, they will invade privacy like no other, and I bet they will even hover them near a window to catch something... Then wait until they start putting tasers and guns and stuff on them... I mean the govt and cops already have facial recognition, so I am sure they will be used in conjunction with the drones... Then what happens when one violated law, or crashes and hurts someone? No jail time or discipline like usual? The old "they did not break any policy" crap, which shows you how much of a lair they are or it really is their policy to harm you...

And for the final part, wait for the cops to record something 2 years ago, and see you hand a friend a aspirin or something and then they will come try to charge you and lock you up and say you did a drug deal, and the good old response they use, "how do I know what you are or were doing" blah blah blah...
