PLEA ACCEPTED IN VEHICLE ARSON CASE

WICOMICO COUNTY, MD (September 7, 2016) Deputy State Fire Marshals have concluded a vehicle arson case against Johnny Pierre (36). Pierre accepted a Plea Agreement and plead guilty to Malicious Burning – Fraud. He received a sentence of 5 years with all time suspended except for 60 days and 2 years of supervised probation. Pierre must also pay a fine of $1,000.00 dollars to comply with the plea agreement.

Deputy State Fire Marshals determined Pierre was responsible for intentionally setting fire to his 2008 Nissan Rouge along South Fruitland Boulevard in Fruitland on December 27, 2015. Fruitland Volunteer Fire Department responded to the one alarm blaze and quickly controlled the fire within five minutes after arrival. The investigation into the origin and cause of the fire revealed the fire was intentionally ignited inside the engine compartment. The subsequent investigation led Deputy State Fire Marshals to the owner of the vehicle who was identified as Pierre.

So he defrauds his insurance company; the fire company has to respond to control the blaze; the judicial system gets involved. He gets 60 days in Club Slammer and is nicked for $1,000 on a plea deal. Think he owed more than that on the vehicle?
