Lanier leaves in two weeks for a position with the NFL. Many city officials praised her for a drop in crime and for a better relationship between local neighborhoods and the police. Lanier said she is frustrated with what many see as a revolving door for offenders, which puts violent criminals back on the streets. The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) is dealing with a massive spike in homicides in the last two years, and Lanier said the convoluted justice system does not help the situation, reports The Washington Post.
Police arrested a man under house arrest last week who went on a crime spree after his GPS tracking device stopped working. Despite losing the signal, officials did nothing to alert the proper authorities.
The homicide rate in the District spiked 54 percent in 2015, and is only 13 percent lower so far this year. Homicides have tripled this year in Ward 7. D.C. is suffering a violent year overall, with 94 homicides across the city. The alarming surge in homicides is down from the shocking numbers in 2015, but is still historically high. There were a total of 105 homicides in 2014 and 88 in 2012.
“The criminal justice system in this city is broken,” Lanier said. “You can’t police the city if the rest of the justice system is not accountable.”

I would love to. But those same cs cops would arrest/kill me and others who DARED to protect themselves and their families. I don't hate cops but they can't or won't do their job correctly. When I was growing up people wouldn't even attempt to do the crap people do all the time now, and get away with.
Every state cop was at least 6 foot tall, a requirement for hire. Then for whatever reason, they lowered the height requirement. I don't know what the weight requirement was back then but as anyone can see now, even short obese people can be cops now. And some with questionable mental states.
With cameras everywhere now we can see more now and in some cases in real time. Unions may be good for wage and benefits but when dept's try to get rid of a bad cop they should not fight to keep said bad cop on the force and they should automatically lose their cert. so they can't job hop.
But enough about cops, how about the criminals themselves. When someone commits a crime, fights a cop, pulls a gun on a cop, there are certain groups of people and orgs. who will scream to the top of their lungs about brutality, profiling, racism and whatever other bs they can think of.
What makes that such a problem for cops, and us, is that they are allowed to do that, encouraged to do that, and now it is acceptable to do that. Cops and maybe courts are paralyzed from doing their job the correct way in fear of lawsuits, loss of job and even being targeted.
No sir, I couldn't be a cop even if I did pass all the tests to become one. I wouldn't have the patience to put up with the bs they are forced to put up with or the people they have to deal with on a daily basis. I would be more of a 'dirty Harry' type of cop and just shoot them and save time and money.
Then I would be in prison. Cops have to do such a balancing act these days. Have to follow policies, don't infringe on anyone's civil rights, dot the "I's" and cross the "T's". All while wondering if the next chap you contact will be the one who kills you.
And just think about this for a moment, if these 'protesters' were allowed to do anything they want, and that 'want' is to kill white people, if no cops were between them and us, we would have our own little genocide inside this country.
You'll find plenty of criminals in the NFL, too. With money to spend on lots of lawyers.
11:23 Beat me to it :)
Tongue in cheek, she's going from the frying pan to the fire!
Back to serious. First duty and obligation of government at any level is to protect the citizens. Rudy Giuliani put the needs and rights of the regular folks ahead of coddling big and small crooks, and turned NYC around. Each of the Democrat run urban cesspools that are our larger cities need to muster the intestinal fortitude to apply his recipe.
Pragmatically, as long as thugs are killing thugs, it moves the process along. But then we have a variety of innocent adults and kids caught in the crossfire, and we're reminded that more than 'passive' activity is required.
Cuff 'em; stuff 'em; on a road gang for a couple of years; send them to enlist in the Foreign Legion; whatever. Just stop the catch and release approach.
Well off she goes to the National Felony League. I for one will not watch another NFL game as long as they continue to disrespect the American flag. This is not a white or black thing it is a American thing. Our enemies have attempted to divide America for years. The sad fact is the current president has done absolutely nothing to help repair this country. As a matter of fact he has been disrespectful to the military and law enforcement. I strongly suspect the man has ulterior motives. We the people need to stand as one people period. They have diverted the anger that should be placed solely on the shoulders of politicians and placed blame on soldiers and the police.
If we can not fix this as a nation we are in a heap of trouble. I love all Americans. These weak minded easily persuaded lazy young folks are the root cause. That goes for all colors. The entitled bunch are bringing a proud working class to a boiling point. I have never seen in my 55 years this much hatred and anger from all walks of life.
We are being played America.
There is one major common denominator and they are one in the same. Democrats and Blacks!
