(June 10, 2015) – The Ocean City Police Department is currently investigating an overnight shooting that occurred in the area of 8th Street and Washington Lane.
On June 10, 2015, at approximately 12:09 a.m. Ocean City police responded to the area of 8th Street and Baltimore Avenue for a reported shooting that had just occurred nearby. Upon arrival, witnesses were providing first-aid to the 21-year-old male victim of Glen Burnie, MD, who suffered a single gunshot wound to his buttocks. The victim was treated by Ocean City EMS and transported to Peninsula Regional Medical Center where he was released shortly after.
During the investigation, detectives determined that the victim made contact with the suspects in the area of 8th Street and Washington Lane where a confrontation ensued. The suspects fired three gun shots, one of which struck the victim. The victim made his way to a nearby bus stop where witnesses came to his aid and contacted Ocean City Communications. Officers located three bullet casings at the scene, in addition to drugs and money.
The Ocean City Police Department Criminal Investigation Division Major Crimes Unit continues to investigate the incident; however, a lack in cooperation provided by the victim is causing a delay in the investigation. At this time, no suspects are in custody. Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact Detective James Rodriguez at 410-520-5347 or jrodriguez@oceancitymd.gov. Citizens that wish to remain anonymous may also contact OCPD Crime Tip Hotline at 410-520-5136.

Seriously don't let your kids downtown after 10:00 p.m.
Who in the hell lets their kids bike anywhere at 10pm?
Gee. Anytime you buy a regulated firearm in Maryland, there is a fired shell casing that is included and sent to MSP with the paperwork. Can't the OCPD ask MSP to just look up the firearm in that database and track down the owner. Surely whomever fired these shots in OC purchased the firearm legally.
Really, get off the boards by 10pm. Nothing good happens in OC late evenings.
We need fewer gun laws for law abiding citizens. We need to enforce the laws that exist for the criminals. We need stricter penalties for those who break these laws. We need to change from "may issue" (with good and substantial cause) to "shall issue." We need to eliminate magazine restrictions . (for law abiding citizens) We need to report all of the news i.e. tell me about these youths...black? white? names? Why is everybody afraid to call these ignorant fools what they are?

I agree, instead of wasting police resources and locking up people for drug possession, how about we get real serious about gun use crimes.
Who says its from Maryland?
drug deal that went bad, no innocent parties here.
Ocean City is the only town in the state that is also a business. That business, of course, is tourism.
Industry-wide, it is a well known fact that the #1 most important factor in attracting visitors is safety.
The OCPD had better get their act together very quickly or OC will turn into Atlantic City - seemingly overnight.
OC is the sunny Baltimore
We are local and my teens want nothing to do with the downtown are after dark....it is gross. Hopefully there will be some security cameras that will provide some clues.
And that is a recent law. Gun could be 20 30 40 years old.
Hey doc you got any pills.

that program has ceased due to lack of funding.
Lol stop enforcing drug laws? Who do you think is carrying the guns?
2:11, 7:54 and 11:03
The comment was complete sarcasm and meant to criticize our overzealous Maryland gun laws.
And 2:11, I assume you mean "it's" as opposed to "its."
I know it's difficult, but everyone try to keep up.
