Cops Protect Town from Hardened Criminal, Issue Arrest Warrant to 75-yo Woman for Tall Grass

“I’m 75 now, and I’ve never had a speeding ticket, never had a parking ticket..."

Riesel, Texas – Seventy-five-year-old Gerry Suttle was stunned when she received a call from the local police chief, informing her that she had a warrant issued for her arrest.

“I’ll be 76 in July,” Suttle said. “I’m 75 now, and I’ve never had a speeding ticket, never had a parking ticket and now here I am got a warrant for my arrest from the big city of Riesel.”

Suttle’s arrest warrant was for failure to appear before a judge on a matter regarding the height of the grass on a property she owns across the street from her home.

Referencing the grass, Riesel police chief Danny Krumnow stated, “It has grown up, and the court had issued her letter and then court issued a warrant for failure to appear.”

sure this was not Fruitland? They drive $60K dollar Cruisers and refuse to take a partial payment on water bills when people get sick. I know Nestle's CEO says no American deserves free water .. perhaps he should run for town council of Fruitland

And our sherrif goes on TV and says if you don't want to be harrassed and abused by the cops then follow the law. I hope you are reading this you arrogant $%&# because this is EXACTLY why you are wrong and it is EXACTLY why people are so angry. You act like people are getting bothered by cops because they don't WANT to follow the law, but it is because the cops are not operating to protect and serve but to collect yet another tax from the people at the bottom who are taxed to death. And I'm not blaming the beat cop or meter maid just trying to do a job and go home I am blaming people like YOU Mike Lewis who define their job in a way that forces these situations to happen. And the SBY pd is even worse, they are just never called out because of the libotard club that runs the city and its media.

She was supposed to go before a judge, she didn't. Even if it's bothersome, she should have made it to the courthouse and gone before the judge, and this wouldn't be an issue. And, CUT YOUR F-ING GRASS!!! It's not that hard.

You fine her or threaten to have the city mow the grass with the expense being applied as a lein on the home. You don't put a 70+ to woman in jail for not mowing grass. You don't even put a 70+ in jail for forgetting a court date. Now that she is in jail who's going to mow the grass? So I guess it wasn't about the grass at all then, just about the arrest. You know it's private companies usually making money off these lock ups.

Judge, States attorney, cops, bail bondsmen, prison system are all part of the same system. They all cooperate to make it run as efficiently and profitably as possible.

Tall grass go figure? If this is what my tax dollars are funding for public safety well, I'm glad you got her and we no longer have to worry about the tall grass terrorist!! WHAT AN ABSOLUTE WASTE OF TIME & MONEY!!

Hey guys, I'm 72 and if I own property and the law requires the grass to be mowed it's my problem. If that lot is next to my home I may not like that it looks like a mess and hurts my property values. OK my grandson mowed my lawn today but I used the push mower to do the trimming and picked up the sticks that were in his way. If you are ordered to appear before a judge and don't show up a warrant is issued. No one calls a meeting and says should a warrant be issued in this case. Of course there are extenuating circumstances that could be taken into account and they may well be. The warrant is automatic procedure. I'm shocked that she wasn't referred to as a great grandmother to evoke more sympathy.

THE LAW IS THE LAW. If you can't follow it then you must pay the price!

To all of you who are standing up waving your flags for 'the law' let me just say, some 'law' shouldn't be law at all. It's entire existence is to supersede freedom and legalize robbery.

Sir. Another story was posted. An update as you will. It stated she had nobody left. And simply didn't remember. But some neighbor boys came and cut it for her. I'm sure you may forget things from time to time. But you seem to have a support system to help remind you if you slip up. Fact is.... She is an old lady arrested not for an FTA. It was going to happen over the grass anyway. The FTA is the justification. I'm sorry. Nothing not even a FTA justifies this.

So when can a person do what they want with their property that they worked hard to pay for and taxed out the ass for? What if the lot was full of praying mantis? It's illegal to kill them or their habitat. It's a stretch I know. But the point is nobody got out to talk to her. Tell her. Rode by and took a note. Maybe a pic. That's it!

I'm a cop my grass is high. I dare someone to tell me to cut it.

Because your just above the law and nobody is telling a cop what to do! Lmao. Am I the only one who can feel his demeanor when his comment was read?

Anyone of you could have went to her home and cut her grass. Hell. My mother is her age. You people have no sympathy for the elderly. You people just want to trash the elderly like garbage.
