Larry Hogan, lawmakers agree to 'work together' as General Assembly opens

State leaders hammered the theme of bipartisanship Wednesday at the opening of Maryland's 2015 General Assembly Session in Annapolis, even as a $750 million budget deficit looms in front of a government that could become divided by party and priority.

Gov.-elect Larry Hogan set the tone before the House of Delegates and Senate officially opened at noon. Hogan, a Republican who will be inaugurated next week, appeared with the Democrat he beat in November's gubernatorial election, Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown.

Hogan later gave separate speeches to the Senate and House, both of which are populated largely by Democrats. He pledged to cooperate.
