Holy Crap! I thought I'd never see the day when schools were delayed for cold. HAHAHA
What's next?
Darkness
OMG, seriously????? I grew up in South Dakota and THAT never happened lol, guess we're just a tougher bunch in the Midwest!
Thats y u live herenow huh
Two hours is not going to make that big of a difference in temp. It is still going to be frigid at 9am. Put some extra layers on and go to school!
5:46-Not tougher,just harder headed.
5-10 BELOW ZERO? I'm actually okay with the school delay.
They don't know how to dress for cold weather around here.
Its about the kids standing at bus stops and those that walk to school in salisbury and smaller communities. Has nothing to do with temperatures in the buildings. They all have heat. Times have changed people!! The days of whacking your kid with a ruler, harsh punishments, and such are all gone. Society is pampered. No one walks to school in three feet of snow barefoot and uphill both ways anymore like the old stories go.
so i guess montana...n.d...s.d... up stae n.y. and all the upper and midwest states are closing to....i remember getting on the school bus with 4 inches of snow on the ground. add extra clothes on...your house has heat...bus has heat school has heat. i just put long pants on today....i like wearing shorts...lets find out if the kids in canada and alsaka have no school....
Feet? You had feet?
I saw Salisbury Students walking in Bikinis today down Camden Avenue...
Both Male and Female...Surely we cannot discriminate
Whaa... They delayed school... Whaa... It's so cold, why didn't they delay school (yes, you all complained about no delays last year...) you all amaze me...
I had family in International Falls MN while growing up in the 60's and 70's and the children there are more prepared for cold weather. They had ski type pants and these things we used to call cocoons (hooded down filled coveralls) to wear. The cars has some kind of heaters in them to keep the engines from freezing.
You can't really compare a place that gets very cold weather a lot to a place like here.
708pm you're a moron! Yea eastern shore is like Alaska and all those other places you mentioned. What an idiot to compare apples to oranges. Like I want my 6 year old and 7 year waiting out at 5:50 am to catch the bus in these temperatures. You must not be a parent. 100 years ago they didn't have electric heaters either, doesn't mean I want to live as they did, fartknocker.
The people that mentioned living in other cold areas and comparing this area to other areas, want a gold medal? Same old crap, I walked six miles in the snow to get to school speech. Welcome to the eastern shore and this is how we run things here now. Don't like it, please by all means leave!
Moved here from northern Minnesota. First two or three winters I laughed at you all wrapped up tight when it was 30-40 degrees out. I've acclimated since then and think your children and mine are I'll prepared for these brutal temps. Growing up in it, with severe weather gear ready, is very different that throwing on a crochet hat and a walmart coat when you're not used to it!!
Didn't you read Joe's post yesterday? Why are you calling others names? Couldn't you get your point across without the name calling? How about trying to be civil.
I hate to say but not all the schools in this area have heat that actually works! The heating systems are extremelly old, and only half way warm!
Not sure why St Francis was on this list. They opened on time. 8:05am.
