While thousands of present and former members of the New York City Police Department have recently displayed their displeasure and anger at Mayor Bill de Blasio by turning their collective backs on him, the mayor fired back by referring to those officers as “disrespectful,” but made no mention of his wife sporting denim blue jeans to the funeral of assassinated Detective Wenjian Liu this past Sunday.
As reported by The Washington Post on Jan. 5, 2015, accompanied by his ever present Police Commissioner Bill Bratton, the city’s mayor Bill de Blasio (real name, Warren Wilhelm, Jr.) verbally opened fired at the numerous members of the NYPD who have turned their backs on him in recent appearances. As de Blasio stated, the offending officers were “disrespectful to the families involved. They were disrespectful to the families who had lost their loved ones. I can’t understand why anyone would do such a thing in the context like that.”

Why doesn't he use his real name?
As an ex new Yorker..I lived under Lindsey....They get what they deserve
wearing jeans is disrespectful?
Yes, 949. Learn etiquette and abide by it, fool.
Be proud of your real name, and have pride in your family history.
Stand with your brothers, not for their enemies.
It's pretty simple once you get used to it, really.
It is discourteous and disrespectful to wear jeans to a funeral. Jeans are casual-wear. Wearing jeans to a funeral is like saying a funeral is not a big deal, or equating it with going to a baseball game or rock concert. By taking the effort of "dressing up", you are expressing respect for the deceased. In other words, at their funeral or memorial service ... generally a time for reminiscing and/or celebrating the deceased's life, you want to convey your pleasure at having made their acquaintance. By wearing black, you express your sadness that he/she is not longer with us. By dressing more formally, you're sort of "saluting" that person ... showing that they mean enough to you for you to take the trouble.
In a nutshell, it is never appropriate to wear jeans to a funeral.
We will shorts at your funeral.
And flip flops

Yes you liberal moron!
7:01 wtf are you trying to say? I mean, really? You said "we will shorts at your funeral" totally incorrect and stupid sentence that says all we need to know about you IQ. Dumbass. Go I still doubt if you will end up contributing anything positive to society
What if jeans were all one had?
You know not every culture mourns over death in the way typical anglo funerals go.
Some celebrate the persons life.
It not like she's the cops relation or friend. Should she feign grief as well?
why would anyone expect anything less from these morons? They've already told us they stand with the fools out there trying to cause problems in our country!
OMG how ignorant, another Michelle, must be her idol.
8:01, jeans are not all she has so don't even go there and even if it is, she has the means to gather something together more tasteful. She's a vulgar excuse for a human.
As for the funeral itself, it was held in a church. If she or anyone else is going to attend then they should dress the part. A church is not a casual setting so appropriate dress should be worn.
Now that all being said.......These people are the lowest of the low, low class and ill bred-in other words you can take them out of the ghetto but no matter how hard one tries you can never take the ghetto out of them.
Who are you to judge? You elected a Mayor who wears JEANS and FLIP FLOPS to ceremonies.
LOT OF B. S. PEOPLE WEAR JEANS EVERY DAY TO FUNERALS.NO ONE SAYS ANY THING.PEOPLE GO TO RESPECT THE PERSON.
YOU PEOPLE DON,T GO TO CHURCH THAT WHAT LOT OF PEOPLE WEARS
I will wear flip flops. At ur funeral.
She was wrong. The women is loaded. She should have dressed to impress. It was disrespectful under the circumstances. Stop making excuses every time a person od color pisses down the neck society. Stand up and take some form of responsibilty in life. Libtards.
jeans?! seriously?? that is so disrespectful. if thats how she wanted to appear to show respect for the dead, why didnt she just stay away? i dont go to funerals often, but if i did, id make sure to show some respect for the deceased. even if i had to go get a pair of slacks or khakis from the goodwill for a dollar... seriously... what is wrong with our society to make it seem like its ok to wear jeans to a funeral?!?! you are supposed to dress up for events as serious as this. it is not the mall for petes sake!
The deceased don't care one iota what you wear to the funeral. Heck, they don't even know you attended. What you're really saying is people should be concerned with impressing those who feel they deserve to be impressed. Tell me why again, please?

lol you're funny and hypocritical. much like the rest of the commenters. I wouldn't care if anyone came naked to my funeral. I would rather have them there than not at all. But then, would I really know if they were there, naked or wearing jeans?
My, my, if only you people would live up to the standards you set for others.
Pee on your grave.
