Angry Mother Destroys Common Core By Writing This On Her Son’s Test

I'll bet the liar in the White House who is demanding this crap couldn't do this either. As a society are we going to allow Obama dumb us down to his level. Common core is awful and is forcing States to adopt it for fear of losing federal dollars.

This is as stupid as the "New Math" they introduced in my generation, all it did was frustrate parents and students to the point that most just quit trying and failed the class, but all of us got passed anyway. I think it was an early form of "No Child left behind"!

She is destined to remain angry because the system won't change.

I saw crap like this taking place in government schools more than 40 years ago. took my children out before it destroyed their minds. we truly couldn't afford to pay for alternative schooling, but we sacrificed everything to make it happen. most parents won't do this, so their children will suffer the consequences of this inferior, distorted, brain washing government thing called education. so sad for the children and for our nation.

The "math" involved is so, so simple which is supposed to make it possible for "all" children to do well if they can write an essay about a process that takes two seconds to complete. To level the playing field, CC makes real math ability a handicap.

Kids in China still use an abacus and are smarter than us.Liberals out thinking themselves on common core.

Common Core is changing history as well...in some lessons, they have changed the nationality of the 9/11 terrorists, and the "reason" why it happened...keep alert if parents if you have kids in school!

1:45 That's happening under the direction of the Muslim in the White House.

Why write a prolonged piece about subtracting without borrowing? This takes the place of any real mathematics instruction. Kids who are advanced in math despise this kind of time wasting.

We as citizens have gotten lazy WE can change this but we will have to become vocal.

Joe we are so angry and it is not just the public schools can someone please explain to me what the hell mental math is - I am a college educated woman who runs the accounts rec and accounts payable of a small company and I cannot help my kids with their math homework! Mental math is the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen and I am talking about kids in the 3rd and 4th grade - I was told this is part of the new common core - I am really upset and afraid my kids are not going to past this course - we are looking at tutoring and again this is a private school!

I find it interesting that no one actually responded to the prompt. It did not ask you what the answer to the subtraction problem was. It asked you what did the problem solver do properly and what could the problem solver have done to achieve the right answer. It is all about analyzing the reasoning.

I'll be those common core kids sure know how to cut up an 8 ball or how many dime bags one can get out of an ounce, double again it one knows how to cut it by 50%. We just need to relate it to their everyday lives! Maybe the questions should revolve around an ebt account?

Try searching google for mental math…there are plant of free guides to help both parents and students.

I'm guessing they won't past the course!

Mental math is just what it sounds like. You don't need a pencil and paper or a calculator. You just need your mind.

For example, if you went to the grocery store to buy 6 cans of string beans at $.98 per can mental math will lead you to theorize that 6 cans at %1 ($6.oo) less $.o2 per can ($.12), the difference between $1 and the $.98 cost of the string beans, $6 minus $.12, is $5.88. So easy, so common, and so common core!

Please think about it and give it a chance.

Just one flaw with your math, don't forget to add MD state tax unless you drove to Delmar food lion. In that case add the cost of fuel. LOL

653 are you for real?

Common core is simply socialist peasant training with a trendy twist. This isn't designed to prepare our children to become self sufficient, business owners. It's designed to make labor camp ready, state wards. "The deliberate dumbing down of America " by Charlotte Thomson Iserbyt
Is a must read for all seeking the truth about our educational system.

You are correct to an extent. It is not all about analyzing and reasoning. It is about getting credit for putting something down. Dumb entitlement kids can't analyze or reason so if the write something down they get credit for attempting and "past" the class. Common Core is designed to give everyone partial credit so no one fails.

Fight and resist common core as much as you can. This is done by the Muslim from Kenya in the White House and it is his way of allowing the dummies in society to pass. The new no child left behind.

Again, this is forced on us by threats of losing our Federal Funding.

Also, if you don't feel like reading this book just go rent or buy the video The Hunger Games. We will be the every day peasants portrayed in this video. If you have half a brain you will pick up on it quick.

There is nothing common about it. I do use common in another context though.

1st, I have to re-teach my child every night when it comes to math, the way i learned addition, subtraction, multiplying and dividing. Analyzing data is for statistics, science and other areas of learning. You do not analyze 427 minus 316. Its simple you have 427 of something and you take away 316 of something you have 111 left of something. period the end.

ann. 3/23 6:53pm

It is not common core, its basic math. You round up to a $1.00 per can. = $ 6.00. you take 6 cans * .02 cents = .24 cents, $6.00 - .24 cents - $ 5.88. It is basic math and such be taught as such, you don't analyze it is what it is, there is no deviation. the cost of the can is .98 cents and you need or want 6 cans.

Its NOT designed to teach anything. Its designed to dumb down the next generation. Kids get passed to the next grade or the teacher is accused of racism or failing to teach. Many, MANY children GRADUATE without being able to read or write ---12 years of school and they are dumber than a sheep herder in Afghanistan. Yet they passed every grade.
Stupid people are easy to dominate, propagandize, and exploit. THAT, you sheeple, is the final goal. WHO in the hell needs a "number line" to do SIMPLE math?
Keep cheering --- your children will do what they are told much easier and quicker when they have no clue about facts, rational thinking, logic, and reasoning.
Scary doesn't even begin to describe their future.

Last time I checked 6 x 2 = 12 nor 24.

Anonymous said...

5:02 - that's the "New Math" that came out in the 60's and 70's. The original way was to multiply the .98 by 6...after memorizing your multiplication tables...

Anonymous said...

Imclain, you forgot to mention that they graduate not being able to read or write AFTER you had to teach them to read and write BEFORE they could start the first grade.
