Salisbury City Council To Make Final Vote Monday On Rain Tax

Come on Folks, put the pressure on and get our City Council to get their heads out of their a$$es to vote this proposal down.

Our Governor NEVER requested Salisbury participate in this tax/fee or whatever else it's called.

Mayor Ireton needs to be stopped on this one.

10:06, A FEW EXTRA BUCKS????

Do you ride the Short Bus?

Have you not figured out how your left wing leaders put proposals like this together yet?

They start by introducing the tax/fee. The first year, (while being introduced) is pennies. Then it immediately starts going up AFTER the tax/fee has been approved.

This is how they TRICK the public from freaking out. This needs to be STOPPED! And don't you dare let these elected officials tell you what I'm saying is not true, because it IS.

We are already taxed to death as it is. Why don't we try cutting back on unneeded things such as the 60 paid firemen. I bet a dollar to a donut they are doing absolutely nothing productive right now. They are on their laptops or watching TV in their comfy lounge.

There are many other things that can be cut in the city as well. We don't need a Mayor, a City Administrator and an Assistant City Administrator, a City Clerk and numerous staff in the Mayors office. Make some cuts now.

Jake day supports this 100%
Not sure what ground he's standing on.....

To the Idiot I just rejected their comment...

WHY in the world would you take all that time to write a long comment and then use curse words throughout the entire thing.

Did you really think it was so fantastic that we would publish it?

Unfortunately, it was a great comment but you wasted all that time for NOTHING.

Quit cursing people and quit wasting your time and ours.

If Jake Day supports this he can FORGET about becoming Mayor.

Everything is a few extra bucks, I'm dam tired of paying a "few extra bucks," every time some bureaucrat has a brain fart there goes another "few extra bucks" out of my pocket....

This tax will easily pass, no one - including myself - will attend to speak out against it and in a few years when the fee goes from $20 to $200 we'll all moan and complain about why no one stopped this ludicrous tax! Are we just bark, or is there a little bite in us? Time to find out...

10:16 AM for Mayor!

This city is approximately 90% renters(that's correct 90%).

If you are a renter it would behoove you to contact those councilmembers and voice your opinion. The rain tax will go to the property owners who will make it rain down on the rent you pay. That's correct your RENT will go UP!

If you were smart you would call those above numbers and then attend the meeting or you are SCREWED and you screwed yourself.

You are right they all read this blog, but it won't make a difference because these comments won't be at the meeting for the vote. The only way to challenge them is to call the numbers and show up to the council in full force. Let them know you will be attending the meeting and speak out.

Heads up, Joe! Drove down Fitzwater and Main and saw WBOC interviewing Terry Cohen in the marina parking lot. Probably about this or maybe the city attorney issue that has been in the paper this week. You seldom see Cohen on WBOC any more, which makes me think they are up to something.

Glad I don't live in city limits (County will be next, if Ricky has anything to do with it)... but, I feel bad for those who do. This is unnecessary spending. Rain tax is a joke, and is a simple MONEY GRAB.

It is always a few extra bucks. Flush tax was $30. Now $60. That adds up real fast if you own multiple properties. The city continues to spew sewage into the wicomico river. They should be paying $60 for every home connected the city septic system at minimum plus a penalty for polluting the bay.

Look, a picture of firefighters looking for their hoses.
