Wasting Money In Wicomico

Today, employees had a newsletter from the execs office delivered. It was dated april 2012... the last 3 pages were blank. And it was created on a laserjet printer. Why were 3 pages left blank? That's a waste. So is using a full color laserjet printer w/ numerous color pics. Why was every employee given one? Cut costs and create an email publication for distribution. Then send a couple of paper copies for posting in common areas like doors or kitchens or lounge or break areas. Waste waste waste. As a county employee, its quite disgusting being told we have no money for anything...

As always,
Anonymous county employee

Oh Christ!! Stop crying!! If you worte this on county time, you cost us more than a few sheets of paper.

Stop being part of the problem.

Not every employee got one. Nobody I know did (I work for the County).

Or run it through a Xerox copier in the office. The county over pays for so many prints it's not funny. I've been told it's easier to pay for way more than you need and keep your budget lines consistent than it is to save money wherever you can with the slight chance of an under-budgeted expense here or there.

2:24 - I don't think this person is being part of the problem - that is very, very wasteful and if they want to report the waste - why not - seems to be you're part of the problem by turning your head the other way.

BOO- HOO can't we all just get along.we county employees feel the love just keep bending over and grabbing your ankles.please lube it before you stick it in.July 1 is coming quick we all can't wait to get our pay raise and increment.it will be the first raises in the county since 2007.NOT NOT here we all are with our pants down again.

Increment? What county do you work for? The increment system was done away with YEARS ago. All there is now is a COLA if you are lucky. Like the 1 percent back in 2007. For the county employee whining.......just shut up. I saw a copy and there weren't three pages blank. Why is it so bad for the the powers to be to want to do something to make the employees feel like they are actually part of something. MANY companies put out a news letter to keep employees in the loop. What is the big friggin deal? If I were you, Mr/Mrs anonymous county employee, I would be more upset that the teachers are once again getting raises while you are still getting furlough days and the Sheriffs office is also getting a raise. Why don't you pack up your desk and leave if you are that disatisfied. You know what? I love this county, I love trying to help the public when they call and ask for help with a problem, I love my fellow workers. I also do not believe for a second that there is waste in the county like some think. I am amazed at how people in my department that many barely make $10 per hour and support a family have stepped up to fill shoes and try to keep getting it done despite the financial situation that the county faces and the fact that they understand that raises just aren't in the cards. They even accept the furlough days. That is why it pisses me off so much to see some county employees like the teachers cry for more money when they are knocking down good money and have not had to endure the cuts that the rest have.......and want more.

Pennies add up to dollars. In order to change you must see the need to change. If local government looked at the private sector and how they cut out waste then government employees would be getting raises. The problem is, these departments get budgets and they feel like they need to spend the money instead of looking for alternative ways to save. I truly believe if the government executives wised up and said that they would give raises to the employees if they collectively saved x% on the budget then you would see cost cutting initiatives implemented immediately. Paper is a waste, no matter how much it is, when you have better ways to get the message out to your employees such as text messages, mobile apps, e-mails, ect. Until you see the need to change things will remain the same. I am tired of paying taxes to people who waste my money. Spend my money wisely. You would not do this in your own home so do not it at your job!

Well said 6:30. You seem to really care and I hope most county workers have the "care" that you seem to have. I agree that whoever wrote this letter needs to get a life. News letters like this can only promote team spirit. Seems like the writer has some type of grudge.

Hey, did you ever think that most employees don't have email? Also, this wasn't handed out to everyone.....our department got a few to post around the building. What does that add up to? $2? Tell you what....I will send you the $2 if you leave your address. You are ignorant. BTW, no department feels they have to spend all their money....if you aren't the BOE, your budget has already been decimated.
