Winning football teams are used to a lot of cheering.
But
for the second leading tackler of the Mt. Healthy Fighting Owls,
cheering has earned Anthony Cornist a penalty he doesn't think he
deserves.
"It's crazy how somebody can do that to you," he said from his family's living room Monday.
When Anthony walked across the stage at his high school graduation, his family made some noise.

I have been to many high school graduations and all of them have had the school administrators announce that they want everyone to hold applause & cheering until after all diplomas have been handed out and all students' names announced. inevitably there are several families of A$$holes who feel that it is okay for them scream loud and wild and ruin the occasion for everyone else because there are always announcements of some students that go unheard because of all the noise. it's rude, inconsiderate and downright hateful to everyone else in attendance.

Went to Parkside's ceremony last Tuesday; was absolutely appalled at the audience behavior. Every time a six named - all of which were unpronounceable - was called, the foul language,whooping, and stupid catcalling lasting for the next two or three recipients. Then, to top things off, the offenders resumed there loud, unrelated conversation as though the whole program was for them alone. Not only is this a blatant display of disrespect, it shows the kids were raised in an environment that will guarantee their future failure.
Wish they did this in Wicomico county and at SU graduations.
Just because they are black does not mean they can be disrespectful of others, black or white. Ok, they earned it,so if they want to act like that,fine. send it to them in the mail.
Sorry guys I think it's wrong to make this kid suffer for what his family did. If it was all that, they should have kicked the family out.

Seems things have not changed at all with graduations at Parkside. My child graduated in 2003 and there was a section in the back that was very loud. Everyone was asked to hold off until everyone was announced and across the stage but they ignored the request. It would have not taken as long as it did if they didn't have to stop to let them quiet down. It was a simple request yet they wanted to act like animals. We had family that drove a long way and had to drive back that night and they only delayed the ceremony. My nephew had twice as many in his graduating class and they held it at Merriweather and it took less than 90 minutes for 300 to walk across the stage.

Anyone who has ever been to a event like this knows it is usually blacks who do this type of thing. EVEN AFTER being asked not to.
Most lack social skills and decorum.
I have to agree with the above posters. The same thing happened at Sussex Tech. We had to stand by the fence since there was no seating to be found. A few moments after we found a place to stand, a mob of black folks rolled in and did nothing but talk loudly (right through the National Anthem), I heard more drama than I would have liked and the smaller children were running around with air horns even though it was clearly stated that they were not allowed,bumping into people and bouncing things off the fence - No discipline whatsoever. Immediately following my child walking across the stage, we left to find another place far away from them.
Snow Hill's commencement was horrible! I'm not being racist but every black person that walked the stage was greeted with an extremely loud and lengthy reaction. There were quite a few guys that were so caught up in the moment, they walked by the man holding his diploma.
