A partially redacted police report detailing the initial investigation in the Feb. 26 shooting death of Trayvon Martin has surfaced.
Reuters reporter Matthew Keys first posted scanned copies of the report to his Twitter account. As the Chicago Tribune noted, the report contains details that conflict with several rumors surrounding the case.
The report states that George Zimmerman's gun "was placed into evidence" and not returned to him, and the scene of the shooting was secured with crime scene tape. This directly conflicts with statements made by civil rights activists, including Rev. Jesse Jackson, who had claimed the Sanford, Fla., police department "didn't even bother to put yellow tape around the murder scene when he died—that's how much the police did to find out what happened to this young boy."

Finally, the truth slowly creeps out.
Where is Obama, Sharpton, and Jackson now. Notin to sa now. Like my daugter ,her name is Lasa. You see, it's prounced Ladasha. Da dash is silent.
WHO CARES?! Dude first followed, then chased the boy down. I guess Martin does not have the same right to defend himself. And again you all miss the point. Zimmerman was essentially taken at his word and let go because he had a few scratches while the boy lay dead.
Seriously 6:32 what rock have you been living under? No where I repeat NO WHERE has it ever been said that Zimmerman chased Martin. It did not happen. Got it?
I don't know whether you are just ignorant to the facts or just out and out lying and distorting.
You are as bad as Jackson and Sharpton who no one of any intelligence even listens to. The truth is Martin choose to be the agressor.
"Zimmerman was essentially taken at his word and let go because he had a few scratches while the boy lay dead"
I believe the linked article says 6 witnesses were questioned, so no Zimmerman was not essentially taken at his word.
Secondly Zimmerman did not chase the boy down. Get your facts straight.
You are just the type of naive person who Jackson and Sharpton prey on to spread their lies.
He retreated because the cops told him to.ol treyvon got mad for him snitching and came back to give some good ol thug justice.
Some of these commentors are a shining example of our public school system.
They can barely read and write and cannot comprehend what they read AT ALL.
What would it take to get it through your thick skulls the evidence that is being laid out at your feet?
You cannot accept the facts other than it happened to a black person.
That my little uninformed friend is called racism. But it doesn't apply to your type now does it?
Then why is Trayon Martin listed as "Victim-Juvenile" in the SPD police report?
And GZ listed as the offender?
Can't you read?
According to statistics, racists white people have the highest illiteracy rate of all groups. But you probably already knew that.
10:35 PM
And of course you have some statistics to back up that claim?
Then why is Trayon Martin listed as "Victim-Juvenile" in the SPD police report?
And GZ listed as the offender?
Can't you read?
Well what you call someone lying dead face down? And what pray tell would you call someone who is led away in handcuffs?
your attempts at humor and being insulting have failed, much like everything else you have posted.
One of your kind's problem is you take it too personal. Just stick to the facts...oh, but then you wouldn't have anything to say.
And even when you do have something to say, you don't say anything. Go to bed boy.
"treyvon got mad for him snitching"
talk about uninformed. What was there to snitch about? Oh yeah, he bought skittles and not m&m's
I guess you discount the 911 call, Zimmerman's story, AND the account of Martin's girlfriend which all corroborate Zimmerman pursuing Martin. It's this portion of the story that gets fuzzy, but there is plenty of probable cause to believe that Zimmerman, who clearly had Martin pegged as some kind of criminal just because he was a black kid with a hoodie on in the rain. It's not to say Zimmerman should be rotting in jail; its to say the event should have been more thoroughly investigated prior to letting him go. Don't take my word for it. The homicide detective on the case apparently recommended prosecution.

It does not matter if Z 'pursued Martin or not. He could have followed him for a week straight and it would not matter in this case.
What matters is the last 60 seconds before he was shot. That's it.
This is not the first time the stand your ground law has been implemented.
There are 140 cases where it was used successfully for the defense. I tried putting that article up before but Joe wouldn't allow if for some reason. You will have to find it yourself.

Again, it doesn't matter.
its to say the event should have been more thoroughly investigated prior to letting him go
The police spent SEVEN HOURS at the scene, and more time at the police station. How much more time do you feel they should have spent on this?
Don't take my word for it. The homicide detective on the case apparently recommended prosecution.

He could have recommended a trip to the moon and it would carry the same weight. Police do not decide which case goes to trial. The state's attorney does, and in this case he decided charges were not warranted.
What may seem like the right thing to do, to you and others, has no bearing on the law.
But don't take my word for it, find those 140 other cases similar to this one.
Consider the language of the Florida law:
A person who is not engaged in an unlawful activity and who is attacked in any other place where he or she has a right to be has no duty to retreat and has the right to stand his or her ground and meet force with force, including deadly force if he or she reasonably believes it is necessary to do so to prevent death or great bodily harm to himself or herself or another or to prevent the commission of a forcible felony.
In the latest case, Garcia, 25, saw Pedro Roteta, 26, trying to steal the radio from his truck outside Garcia’s Miami apartment. He grabbed a large knife and chased the unarmed Roteta down the street and proceeded to stab him to death. This week, the state judge threw out the charges under the state’s “stand your ground” law.
It does not matter 1:14, nor is probable cause even relevant as to who chased who.
All that is relevant and probable cause does exist to believe that Martin was in the process of assaulting Zimmerman when Zimmerman fired the fatal shot.
Most criminal incidents don't even have this amount of evidence supporting Zimmerman's claim like his bloody nose, gash on the back of his head. Nor do the overwhelming have eye witnesses.
HANNITY: And the man who does not want his identity revealed says that when he came upon the fight, Zimmerman was on the bottom and he was the one yelling for help.
7:08 and I'm assuming the two previous comments:
"has a right to be has no duty to retreat and has the right to stand his or her ground"
#1 It totally matters that Zimm. followed/chased Mart. According to your logic, apparently Mart. had no right to defend himself against a stranger in a private vehicle (not a cop car or security) who followed him AND likely was aggressive during the confrontation (judging by Zimm. own assumption that Mart. was some kind of criminal, his actions during this event, and his past history).
#2 You bring valid points. And I (and I believe most people) am not saying that Zimm. should be automatically found guilty and locked up for life. The point is that the cops, based on Zimm. words and one "eye witness" who by his own admission didn't even see most of the confrontation (only the end) just simply let Zimm. go. In fact, if it wasn't for all the fuss being kicked up, I guarantee this case would be closed even though you have one dead minor and a potential manslaughter case.
You just gotta love when Jackson, Sharpton and others keep on bringing up that Martin was only 17 years old. Like Zimmerman knew that at the time.
This lack of common sense and lack of intelligence on the part of the general public is what Jackson, Sharpton and the MSM prey on.
7:08 and I'm assuming the two previous comments
I'm not 708 but I am the one from the previous two comments.
According to the LAW and CASE HISTORY, it DOES NOT MATTER if Z followed him. That is the point I keep making. Some just refuse to hear it or believe it.
And I'm getting a little tired of repeating it and getting bored with the whole case.
I have quoted what the law says. They are not my words. Anyone can do a search and find the same thing I have been saying, over and over.
There is one case where someone was breaking into a truck to steal a radio. The owner sees him, grabs a large kitchen knife, chases him A BLOCK, catches him and ultimately stabs him to death.
It was JUSTIFIED HOMICIDE.
And there are PLENTY more stories such as that.
I am done with this for awhile. Feel like I am beating my head against a brick wall.
Have a nice day.
based on Zimm. words and one "eye witness" who by his own admission didn't even see most of the confrontation (only the end)
The eye witness stated he saw martin on top of Z and beating him. When the eye witness got to the top of apartment building, he looked down and saw marting laying face down.
I am tired of people omitting the facts as they are relayed to them.
You guys want your version to be true so bad, you twist and leave certain things out to make it fit what you want to believe.
This syg law is over 5 years old. They both lived in Fla. They should have known what the law is.
And according to that LAW, it is JUSTIFIED HOMICIDE.
Goodbye.
"A person who is not engaged in an unlawful activity and who is attacked in any other place where he or she has a right to be has no duty to retreat"
It most certainly does matter! Again you would have us think that being followed by a stranger, chased, then likely aggressively confronted, does not give one the right to defend themselves. Ok, so if your daughter gets followed by a stranger walking home from school today, please advise her that she canNOT kick dude in the nads if he approaches her aggressively.
Why are you assuming that Zimmerman "aggressively confronted" Martin, 9:16?
All the facts indicate (whether you choose to believe them or not) is that when the dispatcher told Zimmerman he could return to his vehicle he did and Martin then followed him and proceded to assault Zimmerman.
Your comparision defies common sense. If someone is following you and you feel threatened, yes by all means go ahead and kick them. The keys words are FOLLOWING YOU.
Zimmerman did the right thing as a neighborhood watch rep. He dialed 911, reported a person whom he did not recognize as being a resident of the community, was asked and gave a description then started to return to his vehicle.
Martin was wrong and as happens in alot of cases his anger caused him to pay the ultimate price.
Have you listened to Zimmerman's own words in the 911 call where he automatically assumed Martin was a "suspicious" thug "on drugs", an "@$$hole" looking to "get away" with crime?? Are you saying that an objective investigator wouldn't think it a strong possibility that a man who feels proactive enough to patrol the block on his own, has a history of violent aggression, including assaulting a police officer, who has pegged someone as a threat is simply going to sing koombaya when he has his target in front of him? Really?
'All the facts indicate": what facts, we are not sure how much time or exactly what transpired between the end of the call and the moment the "witness" saw Zimm/Mart in the struggle. But we do know that it was likely not Zimmerman screaming help.
Whats funny is that you have folks sitting on death row right now for evidence thats more shady than this!
