Ocean City Approves Offseason Beach Horse-Riding

OCEAN CITY, Md. -- Horse lovers can now ride on Ocean City's beaches.

Ocean City's Town Council voted 4-3 Monday night to allow horseback riding on the beach from Nov. 1 to March 30 with a $50-per-horse season permit.

Council members said a $20 daily permit will also be offered.

Man walking on beach. He looks down and says "That looks like horse
sh-t". He picks it up amd smells it. Then he says "That smells like horse sh-t" Then he tastes it and says "that taste like horse sh-t".
Then he throws it down on the beaxh and says "I sure am glad I didn't step in that Horse sh-t".

A bad, short-sighted idea. It's only going to take one incident of a fecal related illness to break out in Ocean City to prove my assessment. The few hundreds they'll make by allowing horse to roam and crap on the beach will end up costing them millions to lure vacationers back. I don't know about these other beaches people were referencing that allowed horses on the beach, but I would bet those beaches don't have vacationers assholes to elbows tight laying on the beach like Ocean City's beach does. A bad, bad idea.

Have any of you ever been to Assateague? How many reports of illness have been reported in the last 100 years?

9:14 what about all the "fecal matter" depostied on the beach and boardwalk from dogs? Dog feces is loaded with bacteria. Horse manure carries fewer pathogens, so anyone with your concerns should be really lobbying the city council to outlaw dogs on the beach and boardwalk in the off season.
