Wicomico County Newest Tax Assessments

Joe,

I don't no if you have heard from others but my assessment notice came yesterday and my assessed value dropped $260,000.00!!!! Boy are the citizens going to hear Ricky boy scream!!

Publishers Notes: I received one of my assessments yesterday and was blown away at the reduction. I have to agree with the statement above, our County Executive knew this was coming and once again did NOT prepare. His view, (and ONLY view) is to raise taxes.

Guess what, he should have reduced the size of Wicomico County Employees more than 5 years ago and didn't. Look people, you really need to start voting in successful business people into these positions and NOT career politicians. When will Americans finally see clearly that politicians only know how to spend money they do not have.

There's another side to this as well. Assessment rates dropping as much as they have also means your property value, (in their eyes) has dropped. In many cases this means your mortgage is probably higher than your property is actually worth. Americans are in deep trouble all the way around.

It's time for massive changes. If it doesn't happen, if you don't start truly educating yourselves, (as we are trying to deliver every day) information in which shows the direction this country is heading, citizens will revolt at some point and time. I personally feel our government is preparing for such times and have been for years.

We got ourselves into this, (all of us) we need to start figuring ways to get OUT of it and it doesn't include raising taxes. Raising taxes is no different from a bailout. It doesn't work! We need to cut our losses right here and now and STOP SPENDING. I can't stand it when I hear Rick Pollitt throw out, do you want to lose services? Well Rick, DO YOU WANT TO START A WAR ON OUR OWN SOIL WITH OUR OWN CITIZENS?

Wake up America, the time is now, or never.

do you have any comments about the rants put up on the other anti-albero website?

Look Jackass, how many times do you have to be told, I haven't been to ANY of their sites in 2 years now. I couldn't care less what they say because its all lies and obsession.

My last assessment caused my home assessment to jump to a lot more than I could have sold it for even in a better economy.

Therefore, in my eyes I've been over taxed for years and so have many others. I definately don't want to hear about any tax increases in this very fragile economy.

cut spending / get rid of rick.

well get ready because in 2013 Martin omally is raising taxes and raising the flush tax for people with septic systems instead of city sewer service...

This is not an unusual event - it's happening all around the country. Of course we have to lose services if we don't find an alternate source of funding. I for one am willing to pay slightly higher taxes to fund services and build schools. Don't see the need for all the hysteria and drama.

1:05--great comment. People like to see their assessments lowered, because that means their taxes are lowered. But then they scream when services are cut back or eliminated. We can't have it both ways.

We should all scream about taxes. I dont mind paying for real things taxes pay for but I dont want to pay for BS stuff they want to pay for and is not really needed

Before any taxes are raised the county needs to start charging for crossing both of the Ferrys on the Wicomico. There are some ways to increase revenues for some services rendered without gouging all taxpayers.

Doesn't have to be an arm and a leg, $1.50 a trip not worth the cost and time of going around? Charge $1 a day or require a sticker for use of boat ramps, just like using the dump. Those who use those services pay just a little bit more.

Wicomico county has the highest piggy back tax in the state if you work for a living. What now, highest property tax too?

That's not going to bring jobs and people here. More like run them away.

Question? with the new property assessments does this mean our property taxes are recomputed and we pay based on the new value of our home?

but it looks like good investigative reporting over there. quotes, inside information, court documents, etc...thats why i was concerned.

It's a tax assessment, not a value assessment. And if your assessment went UP, how could you be over taxed?

My last assessment went up to 20% more than I could get for it on a good day in a lot better economy. Taxes ARE related to assessments, what about that don't you understand?
