Conspiracy to commit arson is a common law offense, which means it carries any penalty which is not considered cruel or unusual.
You may be correct, they are common law crimes. However, can you imagine anyone being sentenced to more for conspriacy than what the actual crime carries?
I should add, so in theory someone could get LIFE but that's not going to happen here.

Fines totaling $97,500.00. For that money he could have bought the house and either fixed it up or torn it down without going to jail!!!!!
The max on the first charge (1st deg) is 30yrs and/or $50,000 in MD.
2nd deg is 20 yrs-$30,000 fine.
All others are misdemeanor (lesser) criminal acts which are generaly punishable by a fine or a jail tern of up to a year.
Whatever it is, I sure hope the SA pushes for the max. This guy is obviously a loose cannon. Assault, weapons and now arson? What's next homocide?

6:56 you had better check your sources. If you think a misdemeanor can carry a maximum of 1 year in jail you are sadly mistaken. The word "generally" does not relieve you of owning the error in your statement. The misdemeanors for which Joe supplied maximum sentences are accurate. Even though the crime of conspiracy (to commit any crime) is a common law crime for which the perpetrator could be sentenced to any term of imprisonment determined not to violate the cruel and unusual clause in the constitution, he/she will simply not receive a term of imprisonment for conspiracy which is greater than that permited for the actual commission of the crime. But it's whatever.
Why has this turned into an argument about how much time this person will serve? Could get and will get or two separate things. He won't get anything if Matt and company let this guy walk. Trust me, he can be very convincing. A few alligator tears and some made up crap story is what he will have for them. Hopefully they can see through the bull and understand what this guy is capable of. He is more than just a little weird. He is totally deranged and if he is allowed to walk with a slap on the wrist, there is no telling what he will do next.

Unfortunately, he won't serve the full sentences. I wouldn't get too excited because you know how they like to plea bargain around here. If he goes away at all I'll be surprised. They'll use the "overcrowded prisons" reason in there somewhere I'm sure.

Bet all those Delmar people who supported him for Mayor are really embarrased now! Good thing he didn't win! Just think of how that would have reflected upon Delmar!
I know he won't get the full sentence. But he needs more than a slap on the wrist. Look at how many times he's gotten that in the past and he gets increasingly worse with time. That is the scary part. He has caused problems in other neigborhoods throughout Maryland. So, if he gets nothing, he will either return to Delmar and continue to stalk and harrass (or worse) the residents or he will get his record expunged and set up shop somewhere else, where he stalks and harrasses (or worse). GET HIM OFF THE STREETS!!!
This guy is WAY out there. I have seen him in action around Delmar, and I know first hand he can be TROUBLE. Someone needs to check out his security camerasalso, they are surveilling more of the street than just his house. Invasion of Privacy?? I say send the Fire Truck Parade down Chestnut Street.
Please consider that arson is one of the hardest crimes to prove, before you all get too excited. Ask any Fire Marshall, or LE agency or Judge, and probably a lawyer would say the same.
Arson seems to be the new way to make money around here. McGuire isn't the the only one in this area thats been doing these types of things.

Hey.....its a legitimate business. McGuire gets others to burn down houses and Robinson gets people to break into houses and steal gold for him.......isn't that right? I don't know if that is true but its what I heard. Is that true?
12:10pm I saw a Robinson's commercial today that has written on the ad: please do not bring stolen gold to us, or something to that effect...really what credible store must remind it's patrons to leave the stolen goods at home? Is that just in case the police raid him or something?!
Isn't this the same clown that complains constantly about everything that goes on in Delmar? I remember when he went to town meeting complaining because of the fire trucks blowing their sirens after all our football games. If one person is soooo unhappy in a town--why doesn't he move away from here? Delmar has always been a close knit community--why does 1 person have to try to change that?
