Maryland Bill Would Make Parents Report Missing Kids

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- The Maryland General Assembly will consider a bill that would require parents or guardians to promptly notify police about dead or missing children.

The Cumberland Times-News reported Thursday that Delegate Kevin Kelly pre-filed the bill for the 2012 legislative session (http://bit.ly/szEFmk).

The Allegany County Democrat is calling it "Caylee's Law" in memory of Caylee Anthony, a 2-year-old Florida girl who died in 2008. Caylee's mother Casey Anthony didn't report her disappearance for a month. She was acquitted of murder in July.

Who is this moronic lawmaker that dreamed this waste of time up??
I'm sure if FL had had this law on the books, Casey surely would have reported Caylee dead right away! Yeah right!!!!
Get to work on something important you stupid democrat and not something that's happened once and ain't going to make a difference anyway. If someone kills their kid the LAST thing they are going to do is call the police and report the death just because a law says so! Is this guy a jerk or what???? So many other important pressing issues to worry about

Anon 3:54 It's not so much that Casey would have reported Caylee dead right away. It's that she would have done some jail time for this heinous act because that is something she most certainly could have been found guilty for.

She would have been found guilty if the dopey FL district attorney's hadn't overcharged her in their attempt to make a name for themselves. They could have charged her with the lessor charge of manslaughter 4:04 but didn't. Other potential charges of child neglect, obstuction of justice or any FL state specific manipulation of corpses statues could also have been added but weren't.
Bottom line----Someone up to no good isn't going to report a death. It's nothing more than a useless feel good law that will mean squat in the long run.

its a nice idea but i agree it wouldnt serve much purpose. and that jury could have found her guilty of lesser counts, manslaughter and child neglect but chose to only find her guilty of lying to police. such a shame.
