OHS Conducting DUI Checkpoints, Patrols This New Year’s Weekend

The Delaware Office of Highway Safety will be conducting five DUI checkpoints and 90 saturation patrols throughout the state to crack down on impaired driving this holiday weekend. Checkpoints will be conducted on Friday by the Rehoboth Beach and Clayton Police Departments. Other checkpoints on Saturday (New Year’s Eve) will be conducted by Millsboro Police, along with the participating agencies of the New Castle County Task Force (State and municipal police) in Newport and Wilmington.  Last year, 19 people were arrested for DUI over the Christmas weekend, and 23 were arrested on New Year’s.  During this past Christmas weekend, 20 people were arrested for DUI.

I wish they'd do these checkpoints and not announce ahead of time where they're going to be! How stupid of them!
I'm ALL for getting drivers off the road that are under the influence.
If you're going to drink or do your drugs, then stay off the roads, period!
If you're drinking and you get busted, you asked for it and you deserve to get caught!

As Ron Paul has said, you misguided citizens better be careful about surrendering your rights (in this case, against UNREASONABLE searches--- remember, INNOCENT citizens are being stopped by the police to see IF -IF! -- they are committing a crime. Quit using your personal tradgedy or your desire to eliminate a particular crime based on some "good citizen" obession with a certain crime to erase EVERYONE else's rights. Everyone I know is against drunk driving. But everyone I know is NOT so willing to erase the Bill of Rights. Please stop CHEERING these things. Or, get your torch out and start burning some Jewish homes and businesses. Man up and be the real deal if you're going to be so anxious to let the government do what ever they want.
