Police feel empowerment, what world are they living in. Criminals have more rights than anyone. More than the victims they just victimized, they get free health care, free higher education, federal law to have cable, free dental care, free electric, free food, free rent, free clothing, free internet, and so on.
MD requires nothing back from the criminal, no community service, (take them and clean the streets, shovel the crap, paint a government building, cut the grass, something), no fines (oh can't pay, no problem we will get rid of it)
A police state, really. I guess that is why MD is always in the top worst places to live for crime. The systems are so corrupt with internal failures, but we live in a police state. You really have to travel to another country and see what a police state is.
Was the officer investigated. If this story is true, the officer should be fired.
Sad to say, people with power complexes often go into jobs such as law enforcement. They make a bad rep for those honest officers who maintain their integrity. Not all police officers are like this one, keep that in mind, too.
I may have missed something. Where is the "protect & serve" part in this story? Further, in a police state, one must constantly have "your papers" with you, one can be "picked up" by the authorities and never be seen again (also, without any explanantion to anyone), phones and computers are monitored (like in China) and the police can and DO show up for what you may be posting or reading, your home can be searched anytime the government wants (with or without your permission), there are secret trials and prisons, the police beat and kill innocent civilians, and the government answers to no one. Oh, wait....ALL of that ---- all of it --- IS CURRENTLY happening in the USA. Legally. And its going to get worse. Wait til the 9,000 "Nazi checkpoints" the TSA is (not maybe, or a conjecture, but IS) going to set up across the country. MORE innocent citizens will have to explain to the police what they are doing, where they are going, and of course, show them "your papers". Stop being an apologist for what is going on, or trying to minimize or shade the truth.
And people think cops will protect your family. Wake up people and by some guns and take care of yourselvs.
Sounds like a hate crime to me. I bet these two were really arrested for being white.
