GSA Doesn't Want Employees To Come To Work

The General Services Administration doesn't want its employees to come to work. A new policy signed by Administrator Martha Johnson makes telework the standard mode for most employees. She said the new policy assumes very few people need to be at the office day-to-day. Nearly eight in 10 GSA workers telework at least once a week, far more than the average federal agency. The Office of Personnel Management, National Science Foundation and Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation also have high percentages of teleworkers.

The truth is that GSA itself doesn't even need to come to work. Their original purpose was to do purchasing for the Government (kinda like a supply house). Most large Agencies today do their own purchasing however and compete with GSA in trying to get others to use their contracts. A fee is charged the purchaser by the contract holder who in turn uses that money to fund the employee costs of the people running the contract.

If these people don't need to come to work, they don't need these jobs in Government. Contract their work out to the private sector anywhere with Internet access. The Eastern Shore would be a good start.
