Some Breast Cancer Groups Spend More On Fundraising

By some estimates, charities and organizations supporting breast cancer research will receive almost $6 billion -- but not all will spend it on research.
Breast Cancer Awareness Month ends with the close of October -- the busiest time of what has become a fundraising giant. Billions of dollars get raised by more than 1,400 organizations nationwide.

Always ask if the money will stay local too. So many times, stores have a fund raiser and the money first goes back to the company and then to the charity who may or may not use it for what you think.

or give directly to the institute doing the research like Hopkins or U of MD Med and that way the "middleman" is eliminated.
