Although it is difficult to set aside the deplorable record of the OPD in dealing with protesters for a moment - including Occupy Oakland advocates last Tuesday - it has a history of using excessive force on a daily basis. This includes the unnecessary drawing of guns, extortion and framing arrested individuals that is so egregious that the department may be put into receivership by the federal courts.

Due to past law enforcement abuses, the Oakland Police Department (OPD) has been operating under the monitoring of a federal judge overseeing a consent decree since 2003.

"unnecessary drawing of guns", How dare they get the drop on the bad guys. Watch any cowboy movie, the bad guys always draw first.
The judge is a liberal plant who is not looking out for public safety.
3:47....let me clear something up for you....when an unarmed college kid, or an elderly lady, or a middle aged woman, or a military veteran is in your face yelling at you (read that again) but NOT threatening to hit you, throw a bottle, or strike you with a nightstick, said "speech" being protected as legal and permissible under the CONSTITUTION (I know, cops don't need to worry about no stinkin' "rights"), it is NOT necessary to pull out your 9mm and point it at ANYONE. Thats what is known as "unnecessary drawing of guns". Guns tend to go off and bad things happen, accidentally, of course. You are STILL dead, accident or not. This ain't Russia or China. Yet.
First two commenters sound like some of those bad cops. Which the numbers are increasing.
