A "Frequent Hit"

This happened sometime over the weekend. I can’t find any details on it but this very same set of steps was wiped out a year ago by a dump truck. The photo was taken as you exit 65th St onto Coastal Hwy from the OC Police Station.

It was struck by one of the VW H2O tuner idiots at about 9:30 Saturday night. His car "bottomed out" due to a dip in the pavement and when the rear wheels again touched the pavement, he fishtailed into the building. traffic was backed up northbound approximately 10-15 blocks. No charges were filed against the driver. I was told by the driver's friend that alcohol was not a factor, and that he wasn't speeding or drag racing. I believe the Alcohol comment, since I Never saw them drinking all weekend. as to the racing/drag racing... I don't believe that- that building was WAY too messed up for a 35 MPH strike (which is the speed limit there) the Driver and passenger were cut out of the car and transported to PRMC with head lacerations.

FYI- I work at a Hotel in OC where the driver and his friends were staying

2:08pm, Make sure you have the facts before posting info on a public forum. It was a Toyota Supra, NOT a VW/Audi. He was there on his own accord, trying to "drag race" with the VW/Audi's. He wasn't part of the show or the group of enthusiasts, he was just someone that showed up on the weekend of a car show looking to cause trouble. The cops saw him trying to engage in a race and attempted to give chase. The driver then took off, went through the light and spun out, hitting the steps.

This happened at the same building in the same spot in April 2010

2:39- He WAS here for the H20 events, his friend who checked out with me on Sunday morning told me he was dissapointed that they were going to miss Sunday's events. I didn't know what kind of car it was, hence the fact that I didn't post what kind of car it was. I was only reporting what I saw/heard/was told. there were quite a few people here for the event that weren't in those kind of cars- I saw many different types of cars parked at the event site when I creeped by in traffic.

Furthermore- It seems to me that MOST of the VW/Audi H20 attendants were here to cause trouble. they drove around with a blatant disregard for traffic laws, either going too fast or too slow, weaving in and out of traffic, burnouts, drag racing, etc. I wont even get into the behavior they exibited at the hotel I work at. If you are offended by my portrayal of this- I say police your own. I saw NO condemnation of any of this kind of behavior by ANYONE involved in your event. to the contrary, legions of liquored up fans were parked in lots watching and cheering this kind of behavior.

they say one bad apple spoils a barrel. in this case most were rotten- and I hope (and I'm sure you were) that you are one of the few that was a good one. I suggest that you get the word out that they are quickly wearing out their welcome in this town.

"Make sure you have the facts before posting info on a public forum."

The facts are that, no matter what you call the people who gathered here, they are inexperienced, amateur operators of motor vehicles who do not belong on public highways. OC should eliminate this event or Sunfest as they don't belong together on their highways. I have seen parents riding bikes pulling a "trailer" holding infants in the bike lane which you can see was in the path of this destruction. This is not an isolated incident. I witnessed 2 of these people riding side by side on the Route 50 bridge passing "something" from car to car while they slowed down to 25 mph. A bus driver behind blew his horn and was greeted by "the bird" from one of the drivers.

Enthusiasts of what? Putting lives in danger? Destruction of private property?

It was a Subaru. The'dubbers tend to be young, and crazy. I know I was at that age, the difference was I had a real car.
