CENTREVILLE Maryland's two senators voted to table a House bill Friday night that would raise the national debt ceiling but would also compel Congress to adopt a constitutional amendment requiring a balanced federal budget.
Senators Barbara Mikulski and Ben Cardin, both D-Md., joined the Senate in voting down House Speaker John Boehner's, R-Ohio, Budget Control Act less than two hours after it passed the House by a 218-210 vote. U.S. Rep. Andy Harris, R-Md.-1st, had voted in favor of the House bill.
