Employers Crack Down On Smokers

Bosses really don't want their employees to smoke. Not necessarily because they care about the health and well-being of their workers, but because they'd rather not spring for the expenses to cover copious sick days or hospital stays that spring from complications spawned by cancer sticks.

insurance companies charge the group a set rate per employee
this is illegal and discriminatory.
lawsuits will come of it, and the company should lose.

now as a smoker i take less sick days then 95% of any person ive worked with over the past 20 years.

the people that take more days off are those with children.
ask any employer who takes off more.

I'm with you 12:26. I don't smoke but the "working mothers" are more of a pain and take more time off due to sick kids, emergencies with the kids and child care issues.

I don't feel that the employer should have to pay smokers to take breaks 10 times a day to get their fix. Whether it is a scheduled break or not with the company I witness time and time again smokers standing around puffing and doing absolutely nothing for 15-20 minutes at a time. I wish my boss would get rid of all of them. If I say anything they all get mad because I rat on them then they do even less work which increases my work load. If thats how it has to be fine, I will do their work but give me their pay as well and get rid of them.

i am a smoker and i agree, some take too many breaks. if they are not within the normal break times permitted by your company then you dont go, simple.

now i also say that even if they do take more, they still waste less time then people on face book, people that text, ect

lets address all the vices for lost time
