Do You Support the Law Phasing Out Incandescent Light Bulbs?

As an Electrical contractor the law has good intentions, how ever this is going to cost the consumer dearly. The technology for dimming a CFL lamp is poor at best and very much of fire hazard to the consumer who does not read the instructions on the product then tries to install CFLs in dimming fixtures. Also it adds more mercury damage to land fills. Forcing everyone to use a certain type of product is just another freedom removed. CFL technology has come a long way but it is lacking in several areas and may not be the answer to energy problems.

There is a need for them in some cases. I have used them over my water pump to keep it from freezing and have put them in a dog house to keep the pooch nice and warm in the winter.

No it should be the consumers choice. the new bulbs are the environmental risk.

I don't need some dumba$$ in Washington D.C. to tell me what kind of light bulbs I have to use. What ever happened to freedom in this country?

No. Funny thing, I was in Disney last week at Animal Kingdom and all of the street lights were the old incandescent style. Yet they were preaching green all over the place. I bet that was a business decision

nope
they may use more energy, but they are better for the environment in the long run

No way. Curly bulbs don't work in dimmers, outdoors, or as low energy heaters.
And I have bought a new toilet... that doesn't flush. Now I need a new toilet again.
Lawmakers have no business choosing what I want to buy.

i hope they don't go bad over time. as we are stocking up cabinets with all sizes, for 15 watt up, to include appliance bulbs, and others we use but don't realize till you see them. and hoping obama isn't around being sworn in jan. of 2013.
we should be good for many years to come. in fact, they may be inherited. we may have enough to last the rest of our lives at this point.

I've already replaced half of mine, and the old incandescent ones are still burning.

No, government has got to stop meddling in our every day affairs. We are over-taxed, over-legislated, and over-regulated.
