In Memory Of R. Ben Short Adopt-A-Highway Group Named Group Of The Quarter

For Period April-June 2011

Georgetown -- The Delaware Department of Transportation's (DelDOT) Adopt-A-Highway (AAH) Program announces that the In Memory of R. Ben Short AAH group is the distinguished Group of the Quarter for the period of April to June 2011. This group collected 51 bags of litter over the last three months, the most of all other groups that conducted cleanups during that period. This group cleans Wilson Hill Road near Georgetown.

Being designated as the Group of the Quarter has its privileges. Not only does it make Delaware's roadsides cleaner, safer and healthier for everyone, the group receives public recognition. DelDOT posts a special "thank you" sign under their existing AAH sign, they are featured on DelDOT's Web site (www.deldot.gov), they receive an award certificate and their hometown newspaper is informed of their service in the community.

All of this results in promotion of the group and the people associated with the organization. And that is what AAH is all about - - people making a difference in their community.

DelDOT congratulates this group on earning the title of AAH Group of the Quarter.

Anyone interested in adopting a highway, may do so by contacting DelDOT's Office of Public Relations at 1-800-652-5600 or 302-760-2080, or by logging onto http://www.deldot.gov/.
