Police credit proactive enforcement efforts
Annapolis City Police reported violent crime, including homicide, rape, robbery and aggravated assault, was down 29 percent in the first half of the year, continuing a trend that began three years ago.
Major crime dipped seven percent when compared with the same period in 2010 and property crimes, including burglary, larceny and motor vehicle theft were down 2 percent."The City of Annapolis has benefited from a significant reduction in crime over the past three years," police Chief Michael Pristoop said, "Fortunately this trend continues in 2011.
"Percentages and numbers depict our progress, but the real measurement of public safety is what people in our community see and experience. To this extent, I'm happy to say our progress is overwhelmingly positive."
