Southern Delaware –“Abnormally Dry”

Dry weather tightened its grip across central and southern Delaware in recent days, with little near-term sign of relief and plenty of reason for concern among farmers and businesses with landscape ties.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture rated all of Delaware as "abnormally dry" by the end of June, with central and southern parts of the state already considered to be in moderate drought.

Conditions in northern Delaware were slightly better, but the Nanticoke River in southeastern Sussex County notched its second-lowest average for the month of June since record-keeping began in 1944, and the Pocomoke River had the lowest flow June average flow in 59 years, near the Delaware-Maryland line.

In Salisbury the rain seems to always miss by going to the north or south. We've had some small showers, but we need a steady long rain. The DE beaches saw some good rain yesterday and then Accomac saw some good rain last night. Salisbury get a light rain this morning.
