State Police Probe More Thefts From Delmarva Substations

Delaware State Police detectives are investigating a series of thefts of copper from several substations belonging to Delmarva Power.

The incidents occurred on Wednesday, August 4, 2010 and Tuesday, August 17, 2010. They were reported to State Police on August 18, 2010. In all of the incidents an unknown suspect or suspects cut a hole in a fence surrounding the substations. Once inside, the suspect(s) removed the copper parts from the transformers and the circuit breakers. They then fled undetected from each site. The total value of the stolen copper was estimated to be approximately $2080.00. The damage to the substations is estimated to be approximately $150,000.00.
