Ocean City Woman Critical After Crash With Logging Truck

Wednesday morning August 18, 2010 Delaware State Police Crash Reconstruction Unit investigated a serious motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Millsboro Road SR 24 and Careys Camp Road (CR 421) W/O Millsboro.

The crash between a 1992 GMC 10 wheel log truck and a 2005 Kia Sedan occurred shortly after 5:00 a.m. A State Police investigation revealed the logging truck was eastbound on Millsboro Road when the Kia sedan which was traveling S/B Careys Camp road failed to stop at the stop sign. The operator of the Kia Leslie A. Mayhew-33 of Ocean City, Maryland pulled into the path of the 10 wheel truck and was struck on the passenger side.

Leslie A. Mayhew was initially transported to Nanticoke Hospital Seaford however has since been removed to Peninsula Regional Medical Center Salisbury where she is listed in critical condition. The operator of the truck Peter E. Brown was not injured. Delaware State Police closed the roadway down for approximately 4 hours while the crash site was reconstructed.

Delaware State Police has experience great difficulty with attempts to contact Mayhew’s family. State Police is requesting anyone with family contact information to call State Police Troop 7 at 302-644-5020 ext. 118.
