Reggie Mason Fails To File Financial Report

Candidate Reggie Mason, (candidate for Worcester County Sheriff) has failed to file his financial report in time and is being fined for such. With all due respect, this is a man who wants to handle a $5,000,000.00 budget and has now proven he can't even handle a financial report for a campaign. Not Good Folks!

Who is his campaign treasurer?

As long as I've known him, he has always possessed a "lazy streak" - maybe it caught up with him this time.

With all due respect, that is the responsibility of his campaign tresurer. It is a lot of work to run a campaign and to meet all those deadlines.

9:45 is right... I'm the treasurer to a candidate and, truthfully, it sort of a daunting task... there's a computer program that the state sends out... it's NOT easy to deal with. There is a small daily fine for not getting it in on time. But, really... it's an accounting thing that the treasurer has to do... the candidate, Reggie, has nothing to do with it.
Frankly, to post something like this is a cheap shot and I question Joe's motive. This is not like you, Joe.

Way to give a great guy with a great reputation bad publicity over that. He is still working in the meantime as Chief Deputy, in addition to running a campaign... He's endorsed by the FOP and many others, I think he's plenty capable for the job.

I think not. He is a part of the good ole boys in Worcester. Bring someone in with the history of a stellar career. Do I need to say his name? I think not.

Who is this idiot named J. Albero to post such crap and nonsense? So what, a stupid deadline was missed by Mason's treasurer..This is not Mason's fault and don't portray him as someone who can't handle a budget...is that the best shot you got towards this respectable and most qualified candidate? If that's the best you can do Albero you better find another line of work... Or, should we address you as Mr. perfect because I'll bet you have never made a simple mistake in your perfect life? Why don't you get a life....because it appears you don't have one. Trash cheap shot comments such as yours should not even be addressed...by the way, you need to learn how to properly interview people. It's obvious you have no knowledge or training in proper interview procedures. You will certainly never make it on a talk show for sure. You would be lucky to get two votes to be in charge of dumping trash. You need to be better educated and think before you speak on matters and know what your talking about. You will find yourself in the unemployment line before long.

Since when is Chief Mason's photo the property of J. Albero? I don't remember signing a release or authorization on this one....

Oh, come on Joe; this is a little weak. If you are looking for newsworthy drama and some mud to sling there is plenty of it in this race. You are definitely barking at the wrong candidate on this one.

11:39 calls it a "stupid deadline". Is it really? Deadlines and regulations were met by all the other candidates because they are good managers that oversee their administration. Chief Deputy Mason is the candidate and most certainly IS responsible for choosing the right treasurer and ensuring deadlines are met. This is NOT the only issue that shows mediocrity in the Sheriff's Dept. There are at least three internal investigations that are ongoing right now; a recent transfer of one deputy, the firing/resignation of another, the demotion of a former Chief Deputy and numerous questions about how seized property is being handled. If that doesn't prove a lack of oversight and management skill on the part of those entrusted to handle things while the Sheriff is ill, I don't know what does. Things are falling apart.

Reggie Mason is as fine a man as you will ever meet. He has been in the business of protecting citizens as long as I can remember. I want a sheriff who has the experience behind him to keep our county safe. I really don't care if he was late filing a piece of paper!

Be careful not to talk trash about Joe. It's his blog and he can put anything he wants on it. It's a lso a news outlet that is bound to fair and imparial reporting. So there.

AMEN, 7:30am

There is PLENTY of MUD in this race to be slung, do a little more digging and you will find stuff worthy of posting!! Overholt is NO Mike Lewis...Having Carroll Overholt as Sheriff is like having George Wallace Govern Alabama (for those of you who are unaware, I will quote a segment of his speech- "Segregation today, Segregation tomorrow, Segregation forever"). The WCSO has too many reputable African Americans employed for Overholt! Catrino, well- research his history with OCPD, and along the way, you will find plenty... Brittingham, there is dirt with him also, just look and listen. Stop CHOOSING which candidates will get good/bad posts, what's good for the goose is good for the gander. If you're gonna put it out; put it ALL out so the community can make an informed decision based on ALL the FACTS. Filing a paper late should be the least of the communities worries when you learn the FACTS on ALL candidates involved!!

Who cares about this technicality, Chief Deputy Mason is one of the finest men/leaders I have ever known and worked for. He is definitely capable of managing the budget of the Sheriff’s Office, he has done it for many years now. This man is extremely busy, wearing the hat of the acting Sheriff, Chief Deputy and running his campaign. Just look at his years of service with the Sheriff’s Office, when Sheriff Martin became ill, he called Chief Deputy Mason back in to run the office in his absence, that speaks volumes. Also 90% of the current Deputies at the Sheriff’s Office are supporters of Chief Mason, that also speaks for itself. Look at all the surrounding counties with all the violent crime in their jurisdictions, compared to Worcester County. It is because of Chief Deputy Mason and his leadership skills and the hard working men and women of the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office and all the allied agencies in the county that keeps Worcester County one of the safest counties in the state. Chief Deputy Mason has a great working relationship with the Chiefs of all the other Police Departments in the county and all the adjacent counties/states. Chief Deputy Mason has a lot of great ideas/plans for the Sheriff’s Office, to better serve the citizens of Worcester County. Chief Deputy Mason is one of the longest serving Chief Deputies in the history of Maryland, no disrespect to all the other candidates but Chief Mason is the man for the job.

7:30, sensationalists like you are what keeps hate speech and racism alive in America. If you had actually read ALL of the history about George Wallace, you would know that he renounced his racist beliefs and made numerous apologies later in his life. Yet, like so many others who are still bitter about what happened 200+ years ago, you attempt to re-write or reconstruct history in order to substantiate your chip-on-the-shoulder attitude. This, of course, has nothing whatsoever to do with any of the candidates, as your virulent and childish claims have drawn the discussion totally off track (which I believe was your intent). In any case, Mason should have filed on time. It is inexcusable that he ( or his treasurer) failed to complete necessary paperwork on time.

To Amen 7:30, I wish I COULD put it all out (I wish I knew the truth the taxpayers deserve it) The Sheriff's Dept. is a mess; serious infractions in the property room (is it a missing gun?); God knows how many internal investigations are going on; you didn't deny Brittingham's transfer(so what happened?) handguns missing from the property room; the demotion of a former Chief Deputy (tell me why that happened!) the upcoming firing/resignation of another deputy; the extremely poor relationship with the State's Attorney's office; poor relationships with Pocomoke PD; and a fair relationship at best with Berlin PD; and what about the screwed up homicide that was solved because Joel Todd had it re-opened and reviewed by another Agency--MSP Homicide I believe; and the recent rash of thefts of gas from local marinas that included several stolen vehicles that was eventually solved by DNR(by getting a confession, NICE JOB!) because the Sheriff's Dept. did not recognize this as an organized theft ring that was a multi-state crime spree--Deputies were responding to calls on this and telling victims to just "call" if it happens again!!! What kind of quality investigation is that?!! As long as I live in Worcester County I plan to stay informed and the voters should too!!

Anonymous said...

Iguess this shows his leadership/supervisory skills by allowing this to happen and not stay on top of it!

This is a little late on the conversation but I have tried for weeks to contact Reggie Mason or his campaign folks to find out when and where I can go to hear what his plans for improvement are. I have not received a return call or any information about public forums, speeches, etc. I don't know Mr. Mason I don't know what he has accomplished in his many years as an officer but I do know I won't vote for him if I don't know what his platform is or what his plans for change in the department are. As of yet he has not responded to my desire to get answers to these questions nor has anyone supporting him. How can I vote for someone I know nothing abut?
