FYI - I am not connected with either candidate - (Ehrlich or Murphy). I am simply a political observer.
As a freelance journalist for Salisbury News - my general observation as the September primary approaches is that Ehrlich's campaign is loosing steam. Brian Murphy's platform of exposing Ehrlich's track record is now taking its toll on each passing day.
If Ehrlich does manage to prevail through the September primary I predict he will be DOA - (dead on arrival) - on the General election date - as most conservative republicans will then flee to O'Malley.
Simply put - there is not much difference in either candidate as both can be deemed to be liberal.

Yes, Murphy is more conservative than Ehrlich. But unless you are a rabid "purity above all" conservative, you recognize that only a moderate conservative like Ehrlich can win a statewide race. No ultra-conservative candidate will prevail in Maryland. As much as I hate it, that's a fact.
Anyone who thinks "most conservative Republicans will then flee to O'Malley" or "there is not much difference in either candidate" is delusional and knows very little about politics or public policy.
Murphy is running a quixotic campaign that is doing a lot to ensure that O'Malley gets a second term. That is doing no one (except publicity-hungry Murphy) any good. Conservatives need to unite behind the most conservative candidate who can win the governor's race. That's clearly Bob Ehrlich.

The most liberal Republican in this state is so far to the right of O'Malley you couldn't see him from where they stand.
Joe, Beazer probably doesn't need to even be a contributor if this is what he has to offer. I am supporting Brian Murphy but I also am a realist so unfortunately when Brian loses the primary I will be backing Ehrlich 100 percent! If anyone who calls themselves a conservative, or a republican at all goes with O'Malley they obviously really never were to start with. Beazer I don't know any other way to say this but you are an idiot.

Conservative fleeing to O'Malley? Are you high? Fact is, MD has decades and decades of democrats running the state house. Ehrlich is a moderate Republican, and a helluva good one at that. Murphy's got no shot at beating O'Malley and I'd much rather have Bob back.

You are forgetting one thing. It was Brian Murphy - (Republican) - who declared his candidacy first.
And one more thing. If it is only possible for a moderate conservative - as you indicate - to be able to win the Maryland Statewide race - then isn't that grounds and basis for a separation move from the western part of our State?
Even Senator Stolzfus recognized this and that is why he sponsored the separation legislation. Case-in-point the eastern shore isn't retaining its fair share of gasoline and sales tax collections. In other words isn't that taxation without representation? This goes against the grain and precepts established in our Constitution.
There is no doubt Murphy has a much more of a 'conservative republican' than Ehrlich.
People on the lower eastershore really do not have a voice in the political make-up. They can elect conservatives from each of the lower shore respective districts and it really doesn't matter because they are outnumbered by the western shore representatives. That has always been the problem. Scary when you think about it.

She has her opinion you have yours. Just because you disagree dosen't mean she can't contribute. Get over yourself.
To 11:12 -- who cares if Murphy got in the race first? Just because you declare first doesn't mean you are the best candidate. Murphy should recognize the political reality and bow out of the race. He can't win the nomination and even if he did, he would have no chance of beating O'Malley. Everyone except die-hard Murphyites recognize this. Murphy's attacks on Ehrlich will only make some conservatives stay home in November, handing victory to O'Malley and other Democrats down the ballot.
And I'm all for the Eastern Shore seceding. But that, like a Murphy governorship, is a pipe dream. I'd love to live in a Maryland that would elect someone like Murphy as governor. I'd love to live in the State of Delmarva. Both those things are, if even possible, decades into the future. Let's concentrate on today's reality.
Brian Murphy needs to work on the three counties that decide our state elections. As pointed out before, we on the Shore have no say in the matter. It's all up to Balto, Montgomery, and PG counties.
And I hope he wins all 3 of those counties.
With the help of big time Democratic operatives fueling Murphy's propaganda machine, O'Malley will most definetly Win! Yippy!!!!

Ehrlich already had his day and blew it.
Now it's time for him to bow out. The sooner we get rid of RINOs like him the better off we are.
Murphy has my vote to.
Murphy is a tremendous candidate. The prediction is that he will do better than many think.
The Ehrlich campaign has money and name recognition, but Ehrlich is more liberal, and many of us will vote for Murphy in hopes that he will win, but at the same time it should be a strong message to Ehrlich to "conservative up".
To say that Conservatives will flee to the ultra liberal O'Mally is one of the more confusing things I've read on here.
The only reason Ehrlich lost last time was the Anti-George W Bush theme in America. I'd rather vote my dog into office before O'Malley.

Apparently you aren't aware of Ehrlich's track record as our former Governor. For the record - under Ehrlich Marylanders suffered the largest tax increases in our State's history.
