WHY WILL YOU VOTE FOR RICK POLLITT?

As the incumbent, Mr. Pollitt is running for Wicomico County Executive.

These rules apply to comments:

1. Only positive statements about the candidate will be posted. Comments that attack the candidate or anyone else will not be posted, and that includes “sneak attacks” – for example: “Because I want higher taxes and more spending.”

2. Long personal accolades will not be posted – the goal is to present the pertinent facts not a facade about the candidates. Short accolades (25 words or less) are OK.

PLEASE: if you do not plan to vote for a candidate, don’t send any comment about him/her.

Joe, If I vote for Rick, it will simply be because there was no one else to vote for.

I will vote for him. He is a good man that is just dealing with the cards that he has been dealt. These are tough economic times and he has tough decisions to make everyday to keep the county running. He knows how to run the county and I'm sure it pains him to have to furlough and slash budgets. In the end he is doing what you elected him to do and thats operate within a budget and provide services. Tough times call for tough leaders and he's tough enough for my vote.

I will vote for Rick because of my positive personal experience with him. I trust him and I believe he cares about people. I am thankful there is a senior center, I think he is going in the right direction on the Civic Center, and I think he has tried to save jobs for as many as possible in these tough times. I think the bond rating is a vote of confidence in what he is doing. I think he is doing a good job, especially considering the environment he has to work with, and I think he deserves a chance to continue. And I agree with his position on the revenue cap. As an aside, I think ANYONE who came into a newly created position at the time of the worst economic climate our country has seen would have had a rough time accomplishing anything. Rick has done a good job so far and I would like to see him continue.

There's much truth to what John said and I will probably vote for Rick. If a better option had been presented, I might vote for him or her. This is not a comment against Mr. Ollinger, because he is a good man, of fine character and intellect. I believe he is running to try to make improvements in our county and he has run a successful business. The latter is what Mr. Pollitt does not have, but I wish he did have.
There are many very talented and dedicated people who work for the county and much of Rick's successes have been largely due to them. However, that would be the case no matter who is Executive. There are a lot of changes that need to be made in the county government. Most of them Rick did not make in his first term, but he will have to make some of them if he gets a second term.

So we know why you support Pollitt, please list "Rick's successes" as you believe that there are more than one.

I will vote for Rick because of the following reasons:

1. He has been in government all his career and is very experienced. This experience does not cause him to become confused with the private sector when he operates our County.

2. He has continually talked about eliminating the property reveue tax cap, (and I believe he will be successful at some point in getting it eliminated) which is inhibiting him from spending larger amounts of money in our County's operation for the betterment of our citizens and increasing employment opportunities in Wicomico County government.

3. He also understands and realizes that our School Board is underfunded. He is constantly looking for ways to increase the School Board's revenue.

4. He kept the former County Administrator, promoted the County Secretary and provided substantial pay raises which led to greater motivation and efficiency from the County employees.

5. And finally, because he continually looks for ways and means to expand the County services, raise more revenue and do more for the people of Wicomico County is the reason he will be reelected.

Simply put Rick is a big government guy just like me. I believe that Wicomico County needs to be doing more for its citizens, buying more land for parks, increasing the Sheriff's budget and increaing the civic centers support. I know he will work towards these goal, thus getting my vote.

Because he makes Jim Fineran earn his pay in every way each and every day, so what more can you say (but you can pray that he will stay)?.
