H.R. 5741 Slave Bill Now In Committee

Slavery has a new name: “Mandatory Service”, introduced July 15th 2010 by Charles Rangle.

H.R. 5741 will give the president the authority “To require all persons in the United States between the ages of 18 and 42 to perform national service, either as a member of the uniformed services or in civilian service in furtherance of the national defense and homeland security, to authorize the induction of persons in the uniformed services during wartime to meet end-strength requirements of the uniformed services, and for other purposes.”

Barely a year after introducing H.R. 1444, which was supposed to form a “Congressional Commission on Civic Service to study methods of improving and promoting volunteerism and national service, and for other purposes”, Congress has upped the ante. Anyone between 18 and 42 will be eligible for a two year commitment of civilian or military service. With more college graduates working for the fast food industry, a depression era unemployment rate and less people retiring; the government will have plenty of eligible able bodies to move into the slave ranks.

9:43 I can understand the reasoning and emotion behind your opinion, but I believe that law has some issues that need to be thought out....most glaringly, the age range...42 years old??? Are they joking?? You want some REAL civil disobedience??? Start telling 35-42 year old men (and women) in the prime of their earning years and many, many of them with young children, that they now are FORCED to take take 2 years to work for the GOVERNMENT (do YOU think the PAY is going to be very good???)...I would tell them to take a hike and put a bullet in the head of whichever government agent(s) came to arrest me for my refusal. And trust me...I would NOT be alone. BAD IDEA. A better idea would be mandantory service of 2 years at the age of 18 and NO exceptions for rich kids or college boys...the selective service laws in Vietnam-era just took the poor and middle class to die in war while rich boys like George Bush (JR) got to hide in the National Guard....

When did the draft become slavery? Maybe if we had the draft again, people wouldn't be so willing to start wars of adventure like Iraq and Afghanistan. It's easy to support a war where you won't every have to fight. It's harder when your ass might be on the line.

10:33 Amen. When the rich kids lose their "exemptions" from actually fighting in the wars their parents start, we will either have fewer wars or a lot more "handicapped" or "disabled' rich kids.....lol!

Does anyone esle see the irony here? A "slave" bill introduced by Charles Rangel?

I support the idea. All of thsoe on the dole should be working for what they receive AND it would be a good experience for those who are who were borm with silver spoons. Leave the middle class alone; we already give much more than our fair share!
