Now don't get me wrong

As a summer job this year, I am working as a nanny, and baby sitting the 2 most well behaved, adorable children I could ever ask for. Today I took them to a local shopping center to pick up a few items for the family, and what happened as we were walking in really made me angry.

Now I am all for animal rights, and I think PETA has done some fabulous things. But 99 percent of the time I think they are some of the dumbest people I have ever met. Today they were standing outside the store entrances handing out fliers. Now I am the type that will just politely decline, and go about my business, which was the case today. But then they tried to hand their fliers to the girls I watch over, who are 3 and 5 years old.

The pamphlets featured mutilated and abused animals. Luckily, I grabbed them before the girls could even look, and they didn't end up traumatized for life today.

Now what I am wondering, is why in the world would someone think it would be necessary to force 2 small girls to look at photos like this. I told the person who tried to hand the pamphlets to the girls to bug off and leave the children alone. They responded with "the children should know what is happening". Well I am sorry, but 3 and 5 year old children do not need to see gory, disgusting photos. Let children be innocent while they can. Don't force your beliefs upon them.

As I was leaving, the idiot handing out pamphlets was being escorted off the property, thank heavens.

Now I'm a vegetarian. I love animals. But I absolutely hate PETA. And the crap they pulled today made me want to go out and eat a cute animal just to piss them off.

I'm with you; cant stand PETA either. As a biologists, their more radical offshoots of PETA would probably burn down my home for the work I do on fish. But to me, they are just another example of extremism that ruins our system. Other types include EXTREME conservatives/liberals, race baiters (Al Sharpton/Rush Limbaugh).

PETA does for animal lovers what ultra-right zealots who blow up abortion clinics do for conservatives.

Radical groups like that rarely do any good for their "cause"; they firmly believe that the ends justify the means in all cases.

I don't know why you would bring up blowing up an abortion clinic since the last one that had a problem being blown up was over a decade ago, no maybe in the 1980's anyway, these PETA people are crazy and think nothing of protecting the unborn-kill away libs just don't forget those spotted owls or desert turtles. I'm very sorry about the recent death of the abortion doctor, but that was not only not at his clinic, but also was only about him. It's a shame people can't just talk about things with each other instead they try to indoctrinate us with views no matter how young. I too love animals, including the creepy ones, like bats, spiders, crickets-all except roaches-I would never try to force literature on people who can't even read.

Where are all those people who were against giving bibles away at schools? Even against the parent/adults decline of the pamphlets, they tried to force their propaganda on children.

The same thing happened to my boyfriend's younger brother. He was taken to the circus by his parents when he was around 8 and the PETA freaks were there handing out their 'literature' to children without parental consent. His mother spoke with a police man that was stationed there and he removed the PETA people from the premises. I think that parents need to stand up for their children who are preyed on by the PETA people. Kudos to you!

the greatest thing about PETA ? They encourage somewhat fine women to shed their clothes in public. This country needs more women like that.

do peta members put out mouse traps in their house when they see a mouse?
do they swat and kill a mosquito when it lands on their arm?
due they kill a wasp after it has entered their house?
wear a leather belt,shoes,jacket.etc.
another group that selectively uses, decicdes what right and wrong in my opinion

I didn't imagine this would turn in to a bash PETA thread.

But to be fair to them, the research I have done on their organization shows that while there is more madness to their method then there should be, they have done good things for animals.

I just wish they would find a better way to do it.
