Nope. Great inspirer/cheerleader, but started America down its incredibly divisive and angry road, giving credibility to The Moral Majority (it was neither) and Jerry Falwell, etc.

At no time in our history has a true conservative like Reagan been needed to lead this country.The american people in their great wisdom has just put the politcal party that is cause of the most of our current problems in charge. God help us.

Jimmy Carter while not known as being a very good President (he made more blunders than Bush) has gone on to become probably the BEST Ex-President the United States has even known.

9;29- there is no contradiction. the shirt off his back is a gift and given freely to help someone in need out of compassion and love for his fellow man. Social Security is a tax, forcibly taken and begrudgingly given. Maybe if every one gave freely and didn't have to be strong armed, we'd live in a better place. That's what that example of Reagan says to me.

I am not really old enough to remember the things Reagan did but even my intellectually honest liberal friends have nothing but great things to say about him. He must have really been something because he walloped Carter by winning 44 states in 1980, then he dropped a nuke on Mondale and won every state except Mondale's home of Minnesota. President Reagan must have really been on to something for victories like that. Even with an unpopular Bush, an unpopular war and a weak economy Obama did not win by a landslide.
I keep hearing Hannity and other talk show host say we need another Reagan but I doubt anyone will be able to live up to their expectations. Who knows, I only know I want a president, be it Obama or Palin, that will put this country on a track to years of economic prosperity.
I just cannot get past all the air traffic controllers he canned durig their strike back over 20 yrs ago.....nevertheless he was a memorable President.
Massive national debt, failure to respond to 180+ Marines being killed in Lebanon, Iran/Contra. Nope, I don't miss him as a president. He seems like he was a decent man, lousy president. A lot like GWB.

Sam Donaldson and the rest of the socialists believe that charity is bad and evil. Government cannot control charitable giving, therefore if is evil. Only by taking from the producers and giving to the non-producers can a fairness be generated. Only an armed government can effectively take by force what a citizen has worked their but off for. If they can take enough, charitable giving will be eliminated.
This is really how they see it and is a glimpse of the future under our new single party rule.
We voted for it.

As for being a great President, why don't you ask the citizens of the DDR? You can't, it no longer exists along with the rest of the Soviet satellite states, the Berlin Wall, or the Iron Curtain.
As an aside, I used the term "Iron Curtain" to some hapless twentysomething the other day and he looked at me like I just got out of the flying saucer.

I miss Ronald Reagan. President Reagan was a GREAT Leader, a GREAT President, and a GREAT American. He knew that what made America great was its people,its traditions & its past history of great deeds, because he knew that he tried to inspire the American people by promoting the virtues of Freedom, Patriotism, Honor, and Integrity. He also knew that the cornerstone of this country was LIBERTY. With that in mind he sought to instill in the minds of its citizens the belief that freedom was a God given right, but that Freedom must be fought for, defended and preserved. In the end his policies that promoted economic freedom, ( less taxes, less government interference,) produced the longest period of sustained economic growth in the history of this nation. But even more importantly, his use of the Bully Pulpit to promote the ideals of freedom to the citizens of the US and the world, helped lead a cause which resulted in the demise of one of the most totalitarian systems the world has ever known, and all without firing a shot. Ronald Reagan was a GREAT President because he knew how to inspire people to see beyond their own self interest and inspire them to work and strive to achieve not just for themselves but for their families, their neighbors and their country. I was privileged enough to serve under President Reagan as a Marine from 1980 until 1987. His list of accomplishments is long, his setbacks were few, and in the end, Ronald Reagan led a rebirth of this Country economically, militarily and probably most important psychologically. President Reagan taught us that we did not have to apologize to the world for being AMERICANS. As a result Americans today as well as generations to come will still be reeping the benefits of Freedom & prosperity that were sown during his Presidency. God Bless Ronald Reagan. I mean this in no way disrespectful, but if there was a way to take his dna and create another Ron Reagan I would give my tax dollars for that he was a great man and President. We need someone like him now I am making more now but have less to spend. I felt secure in an airplane and in my own country. God bless him(can I still say that outload?)
