PRMC May Be Hearing From My Lawyers Very Soon

"It seems that PRMC had decided to block access to Salisbury News. I cannot understand why this was done.

Again, I am afraid to ask of our supervisors for fear of reprimand.

If our executive staff at PRMC knows the reason why we have been censored, I am sure others would also like to know. I would like an honest answer.

I am not trying to stir up any controversy here. I feel we deserve to know."


I strongly recommend they immediately release Salisbury News from being censored or they will pay the price not only in the Press but in a Court of Law as well. Don't play this game with me as I'm sure you people have heard just what kind of legal punch I can bring into the ring.

Companys are allowed to not allow anything they want from being down on their computers. If they feel it is infringing on a productive work place they can block websites, e-mails, phone calls, it is their building and so long as you work for them you have to follow their rule. You have no legal ground to fight such a decision if such a decision was made.

Not only do they have the right to block your site, they can issue disciplinary action against people viewing anything other that what is in their "acceptable use" policy.

Typical Peggy Naleppa...she is the WORSE. She probable blocked it hoping people won't find out how unhappy the employees are and how terribly they are treated. I think it's too late for that. Thanks to SBY News, everyone now knows how PRMC treats their employees like endentured servants.

Anon 7:23 is right, business can block any web site they want on their network. Businesses in the past the I have worked for have blocked many sites they have deemed not work related. If the people who work there want to read blogs or surf the net on their own time, that is their business. But to do it on company time when they should be doing work related things is another thing all together. So PRMC should pay their employees to read your site or any other site while at work?

You can try but I honestly don't think you have a case at all.

Look at these alleged anonymous lawyers talking sh!t here, just like it wasn't SU Football Players in the brawl the other night.

The bottom line is, if their Staff can access the Daily Times but now Salisbury News, they're going down. Rather than sugesting they can do whatever they want, let my Lawyers work it out. If they have the very right to do so, I'll back down. If they don't, well, you know me, "Albero's PRMC" (the new name) will be run differently. ;-)

Rather than deal with the actual issues that sbynews brings out in the open, they've chosen to close the blinds instead. How charming.
After the whole dr stevens exchange of a week ago, they should seek answers to questions and concerns posted here, and be glad about getting an opportunity to know what really goes on in their facility.
PRMC isn't the shining star it should be....not by a long shot. The fact that it's the only game in town is apparently giving them a false sense of achievement. The word on the streets is that the nursing care is great, but the docs are arrogant. AND, far too often, wrong.
For all the money that's been thrown at the facility lately, there should be far less negativity.
OH, and if they contend that sbynews is just a forum for crackpots and whiners, they're dead wrong. My family has had extensive experience, ($150k in expenses there) and I'm something of an expert.

They probably put the block on because they know just how bad their so called "care" really is. Wonder if they were scared the employees would start commenting on how bad it REALLY is. I for one know it's bad. That new ER is a joke. They keep building yet the care gets worse with each slab of concrete. It's a damn shame we don't have closer competition.

This Blog was not created to make friends. It was created to spread the truth and the biggest liars so far have been the ones censoring this site because they don't want their staff facing the truth. Hence Barrie Tilghman's attempt to do the same as PRMCThe funny part about it is, PRMC Staf will now come here 10 times more than they did in the past. Just because they're at work will not stop them from contributing with comments. Just like the Fire Department. A lot of good it did hearing and reading See demanding his Staff NOT get on Salisbury News. Yeah, Idiot, like they were going to listen to a man who got the sh!t kicked out of him and them lied to his Staff saying he fell and hit his head on a table.

You have fun attempting to sue someone over them blocking your website. LOL I work in the industry. There really does NOT need any justification as to why a business blocks a particular website. If it infringes on an employees productivity guess what? NO SBYNEWS TO VIEW. SO SORRY GUESS YOU'LL HAVE TO GO CRY TO A JUDGE FOR HIM TO TELL YOU THAT. maybe Barrie can wipe your tears too.

Think about this for a minute.

They would have to prove that the Daily Times doesn't offer the same opportunity with the Grapevine. They would have to prove that other local Blogs do the same.

It's a lose/lose situation. Don't you worry about my money though. I know who and when to go after someone.

Joe....my 2 cents.

Like it's been said, PRMC or any employer can choose what they allow on their networks. (and yes I work in the computer network industry too) The problem with your site, is actually why we come here. It's open, brutal, honest, and creates a lot of dialog and discussion. With that said, what employer would want their office workers wrapped up in community affairs instead of working. If it was really causing a lack of production, I would do the same.

In regard to what some others have said regarding un-happy employees at PRMC, let me tell you this. My wife has worked there for over 14 years, and could leave for more money and signing bonuses with a shorter commute but doesn't. She is very happy working there, and takes the good with the bad. ALL hospitals or large employers have drama, good and bad employees, office trolls, disgruntled employees, supervisors with too much power, as well as happy and well managed/managing employees.

Just remember, there are always 2 sides to every story.

Not to defend PRMC, but it is possible that they use a 3rd party content filter such as Websense or Linkwall to control access. These solutions characterize sites into different categories. For instance, according to Websense, www.sbynews.com is listed as News, while sbynews.blogspot.com is listed as a Blog/Forum. They could be blocking all blogs this way. You would need to find out if other blogs are allowed to know for sure whether your site is being singled out.

After reading what some of the employees were posting I feel they blocked the site because they were embarrassed by the lack of professionalism they expressed. I was appalled myself by anger and bitterness they uttered. Again I chose to post this anonymous because for the threats that were given if you ever had to go there for treatment.

That's my point. IF they're going to complain that their Staff is on the Internet, they MUST remove ALL outside sources, not just Salisbury News. They're getting themselves in a lot of trouble. This is not Russia, this is America. Follow the rules or get sued. The choice is theirs.

You are not serious saying that you think you could take the hospital to court because they don't allow your site on their computers but may allow Daily Times. This is hilarious. I guess they should allow your site and any other site, like say porn. They are a business, they require productive people, if something is getting in the way of that productivity you take it away or you change it. Sorry Joe, your out, but why don't you use some of your millions to fight it anyway.

How in the hell can PRMC ban Salisbury's 'HOTTEST THING GOING' news media.

If they allow Gannett's media - The Daily Times - then they most certainly should allow the opposing viewpoint - FAIRNESS DOCTRINE.

Then again, maybe they are just like SU where they require execution of confidentiality agreements.

I would love to see one of these so I can contact my lawyer about initiating litigation also.

My employer turned me onto this blog. I don't think I have to worry about it being blocked. He heeee!! I just wish I found it sooner. It has definitely been a great source of information.

If you look at the precedence on this issue, you will see this is a battle you will lose. Major internet providers, such as Comcast or Verizon cannot block access. But private businesses can block whatever they want and really do not have to explain why.

The more I think about it the more I wonder if it's even worth the effort. Allow me to explain why. Back when the Salisbury Fire Department, the SPD and the GOB were told to stay off SBYnews, the higher my visits went up.

Obviously they couldn't completely block us because some of the Staff there are coming here anyway. I doubt their visits per day are worth a lawsuit but if I'm correct principal wise, I'll go after them anyway.

It's also funny how you people keep saying it's a Private Company. Well, they have FUNDRAISERS all the time, coming off like a Non Profit. Therefore I disagree with much of what some of you are saying. Time will tell.

So if what your saying is they are only blocking your news and allowing others, then yes I side w you.
anon 8:34 may be on to something there too about the third party filters, and them blocking forums/blogs you may run into a problem there. but thats like telling them they cant shop online unless they shop at walmart.com.

ps. I know at my last job we worked on an intranet, the only internet web page we could access was was the weather channel. This to me seems the best way to handle internet viewing content at larger businesses.

As I understand it (and I may be wrong), you CAN sue if government agencies block you, but not private ones. Is the hospital private? I honestly have no idea.

I'd LOVE to see you take over the hospital though. That place needs some change.

Food for thought Joe. I know a little about psychology. Try to turn this shat into shinola. You obviously hit a nerve with the PRMC articles last month. The current admin of PRMC is a particularly cold, bitter bunch who, like SU, seem to be more focused on growing their infrastructure so that it looks like Versailles instead of providing better patient care. I know for a fact there are many who work there that are fed up with that type of beaurocracy. Those same employees know where to find you when they get home, and if they have a burr in their behinds they have all day during their shift to let it simmer to a full boil. I agree while they are there they should focus on their very important jobs, but now when they get home they can sit at their own computer (without fear of a redundant administrator looking over their shoulder)and provide really detailed thoughts about what is going on there, instead of a little quickie before anyone notices what they are doing. Sort of think of it as Obi Wan Kenobi being struck down, but ultimately becoming more powerful than anyone can imagine.

really?? is this something to argue about? companies have EVERY right and are within their LEGAL right to block websites from view. If there is a bias against this website and there is a personal vendetta, it is probably not enough to hold up in the court of law. besides, people at work are expected to be working, not playing on the internet (as i am currently doing now...but that is besides the point! :) )

Whether its private or government, each agency/company own there network. Yes every company/agency pays an ISP for service but that does not mean that they have to allow all content onto there network. The SYS ADMIN of the network has the right to block or allow which ever content he sees fit.

Well I use to think the same way you did until I found out - (while working) - through SBYnews that my company was moving.

You see my employer didn't have the courtesy to announce they were closing the factory to their employees first. It was SBYnews that uncovered the move.

To put it into a perspective of print media, can a business tell its employees that it can bring in one paper, say the NY post, and ban another paper, say the NY Times? I agree that businesses can ban anything they want from their computers but i would expect a hospital, which lives and dies on its PR, to be smart enough to ban all news outlets. They should only be able to access medical and insurance related sites. All other sites are irrelevant to medical professionals. Anyone working at the hospital care to investigate and see what you can or can't access?

3. SbyNews announces Salisbury Waste Water Treatment Plant State and Federal Health Infractions.

4. SbyNews announces Key Business Closures, and, publishes detailed list of number of layed off workers.

5. SbyNews breaks detailed story of County Landfill scandals, blow-by-blow I might add.

6. SbyNews reveals blow-by-blow details of impeding Wayne Gilchrest campaign meltdown.

7. SbyNews reveals actual invoices for the New Fire Department 'Country Club' treadmills, elipticals, etc., while our Country's economy is melting down.

9. Salisbury News unveals abuse of government vehicle usage whereby employees are traversing on the taxpayers dime. Many, blow-by-blow photographs and specific examples while gas rises to almost $4/gallon.

8. SbyNews unveals Socialism warnings even before the MSM moves onto the expose.

IN MY ESTIMATION . . . IMPRESSIVE!

No wonder its been labeled The Best Thing Going.

I'm curious to see how much money you waste on this Joe. Large companies monitor internet usage to protect their bandwith. If they see users on a particular site too much, bye bye! It belongs to them and they monitor who, what, when, where, and why. It's their network and their money. I don't particulary like it, but if the IT guy at HQ see us on sites too much, they are blocked.
