where were the parents when they were out stealing cars?

RELEASED TO PARENT? Justin, I am 100% in agreement with you. This is not stealing a candy bar, this is GRAND THEFT AUTO. These hooligans should be spending a few days up in WCDC, not home with mommy. What the hell is wrong with this state? Just because they are juveniles does not mean they should go unpunished. Sending them home with mommy sent a really strong message. Message sent is: No biggie, they ain't gonna do nuthin to us, we's juveniles.

Way to go law makers.

I was just about to post an update on this from my original post. That Navigator was ours that we reported stolen a few days ago. It was totalled at the end of the chase. We're not sure what will happen but after speaking to the officers involved, it's likely they'll both be back to walking the streets. Wow! The driver also has prior convictions of other crimes!

Thanks again Joe for posting this and thanks to those who kept their eyes open for us.

NONE OF THE ABOVE!

Wow!! Surprisingly, you CAN'T trust people like this (criminals who won't even see an adult court) when you leave your keys in your car. Learn from this.

Anonymous 11:47- I am so sorry this happened to you! Unfortunately, nothing will happen to them, the parents will not be held responsible, and your insurance company and you will have all the expense.

Sorry about the Navigator and unfortunately you're insurance is going to have to pay for it because the juvenile system won't make them pay. Our system is a joke. The system coddles these kids and the system believes they're saving them, helping them realize that they're wrong and we are the only ones that suffer. It's funny that we realize this, the kids realize this but the system (judges, liberals, defense attorney's {primarily the Public Defender's Office} and the Department of Juvenile Services) doesn't. I can't stand these do-gooders that try to save the world. I work with these kids and they laugh about how they get away with crimes and are "saved" by DJJ. Heaven forbid that you knock one out, then the Superpeople from Social Services comes in...

I'd wager that the parents are bigger POS's than the kids

12:12. I'm buying you a "cyber long-Island Ice Tea".I have had to resort to posting anonymously as well based on the foolishness and outright denial of the community when I offer really candid, yet informed, information similar to what you state(and this community is not alone). I am ONE, it appears there are several more here, who would love to offer this family a hug, but also realize that there have been over a dozen requests for this family to answer A VERY BASIC QUESTION, and not one where judgment is being passed (at least in my case until the owner referred to us as "ignorant" in a follow-up post for asking these relevant questions...refer to the original post-I am sure you can figure out which commenter I am). DID YOU LEAVE YOUR BLOODY KEYS IN THE CONFOUNDED TRUCK!!!!?? Do I have to waterboard for intelligence here? Those of us insistent in this regard are not being knob-offs; some of us are fishermen and hunters and realize the stone cold fact that if you have a hook with no bait; or a blind with no decoys-you are NOT (REPEAT NOT) going to attract "varmints." I will take it a step further because I was also a counselor for middle-school/high-school deviant juveniles in Wicomico County years and years and years ago (i.e. when salisbury was a much cooler place to live)......I can't speak for other commenters, but if you continue to be irresponsible with your property (leaving it unlocked/keys in ignition/warm apple pie, lottery tickets and cash box on hood)-you are going to ATTRACT CRIMINALS. This is the same type of irresponsibility used when warm water charters chum for sharks so that recreational divers can get an adrenaline rush by seeing the predators. Surprisingly, when you offer an environment to "wild beasts" that suggests easy gratification, they seem to take full advantage of it. I would bet $100 that the keys were in the car/ignition. These are juveniles too lazy to wipe their own noses-Do any of you actually think they set up careful surveillance on this place, and then sent in the "ignition gnomes" to hotwire/punch the ignition? As a frequent Borgata visitor, my lavendar chip goes down on the "owner contributory negligence" square here. And here is the kicker-these folks are lucky it was just property. I also teach regarding domestic violence/violent street crime self-defense. These folks are lucky it was just a vehicle that got stolen...if you are a young lady; consider these types aren't just watching your vehicle-they are watching YOU. And if you walk around clueless, eyes in outer space, talking about your bloody soap operas on the cell phone (while eating a sandwich and reading People magazine), down unknown streets or dark parking lots; Well, let's just say Mr. Albero's headlines will be infinitely sadder.

Frank,

My apprenhension to answer in detail about how the vehicle was stolen does not automatically constitute "contributory negligence" on our part as you stated. I cannot divulge certain details because it jeopardizes our personal safety to post such info on a public blog. Feel free to speculate as you will on what you call "contributory negligence". I do however, appreciate your concern. Once again, we never asked for a hug or pity. It's a fact that more stolen vehicles and crimes are solved within communities by others looking out. I would certainly return the favor without passing judgement on how it happened. That's all we were asking and I'm confused as to why it has you flustered. Hopefully you will have some closure with this understanding. A crime was committed. I'm not the criminal. The criminals will walk these same streets again. That's a shame.

My response about the ignorance was addressed to the posters calling my fiance names and the other couple of posters with irrelevant comments. This is a powerful, opinionated public blog and those are to be expected, but I have thick skin.

why did we even build the juvi center on naylor mill road?

Hey 12:12 . . The judges and Public Defenders work with the system we have already. They don't make the rules. In my opinion, they do a very good job. Remember to hate the game, not the player.

Anonymous said...

why are you people so surprised about the court system. This is an everyday occurrence with juvies.Released back to guardians and or parents. They didn't know where the kids are and probably don't care and neither does social services. But you let a good parent spank their ass and watch SOCIAL SERVICES all over them and charge them for child abuse.

Perhaps Bobby & Billy just were lucky they picked the house they did. Let's just say they had picked Louisville Slugger's house and he'd busted those wittle boyzz leggys and let them beg for a couple hours for an ambulance?!!!?! Oh and really bad news is your insurance company is going to jack your rates and don't even try to shop that new rate they got ya covered there as well! Oh and Bobby & Billy will be okay they'll probably be playing lacrosse at SU in a few years!

ll:47 so sorry about your vehicle. We live in Shad Point and heard the chase and crash, we were so thankful innocent people were not involved. We did go to the scene and saw your vehicle, I am so sorry, it was a complete lose. The "boys" were big men, didn't look like 15yos. What will it take to control these kids before they seriously do bodily harm. They are stealing vehicles at 15 and leading police in hight speed chase, what are they going to be doing by the time they are 18? It scares me to think about it.cj

The one juvenile who was released didn't get held because the police officer obviously didn't ask the Dept of Juvenile Services to detain him. The cop had the opportunity to put him in the juvenile detention center but chose not to.

Check your law books.....

reference old fisherman at 5:05pm: Was it Billy and Bobby from SU or was it locals Tavon and Tyquan?

Anonymous said...

Anon 7:37 PM

In reference to your post:
We often do contact DJJ and ask them to take these kids in for the crimes that were committed and 90 - 95% of the time our request is turned down because the Juvi Detention Center is overcrowded and can't take them. Then we have no other choice but to release them to the parents who as most of you all ready know could care less what they kids were doing. In fact the parents often blame us, the officers, for picking on the kids and locking them up on false charges because we just don't like them.

A lot of tough talk going on here tonight. It seems to me that there was once a juvenile detetion center in the area that actually gave their charges what they deserved. From the comments here, the general public supports punishment, but there is outrage when the same juvenile is discomforted by a dose of that punishment and a little reality to go along with it.

You get what you vote for. Elect another liberal state legislature and another liberal governor and bitch and cry for at least another four years.

I know for whom my votes were cast. These youngsters need six months in the "Annex - The Cut" with no locks on the doors and this would no doubt turn them from a life of crime.

OMG!I totally agree-prosecute the damn parents!Stealing cars is NOT normal teenage hijinks-so I am guessing the parents have a record themselves and this is acceptable behavior for their kids
